my pc is like long life milk !

bought an asus p5b deluxe back in december 06 And its still the heart of my current and best workhorse :)

It started life with a pentium d dual core and an ati x300 Graphics card (i was poor haha )

now in 2013 its going strong With a
q6600 @ 3.3ghz
4gb ram
8800gt
agility 3 120 ssd
and 3tb of storage !

This machine still packs a punch and dont Think ill be upgrading without divine intervention or capacitor popcorn :p

wooop !

has anyone built a rig that survived the test of time ?

I still use a Celeron D and 1,5GB of RAM with a 9600GT. It's my baby brother's rig that I built from spares I had laying around, but I still use it every time I go home to Romania. Still plays slightly older games decently, and everything else works like a charm. However, I am thinking of building a trinity rig for my bro with a 7770 in crossfire with the A10 and have this downgraded to my mom's kitchen so she doesn't have to bug my brother whenever she needs to check a recipe or facebook her girl friends. :)

My first system was a dell :nono::nono:

My first real system I built a few years back. It was as follows

Cpu: Intel Q6600 Go @ 2.8ghz
Mobo: XFX 680i sli
Ram: 4GB Geil ddr2 800mhz
Gpu: XFX 8800 gts
Psu: Started as an ocz but that died about a year later and was replaced by a Corsair gs700. That psu lasted into my current rig until I recently replaced it and put it back in my old rig. Still going strong nearly 5 or so years now.
Hdd: 500Gb western digital still going strong.

All the parts are still working away fine and can play alot of games today but most of them are on medium settings unless the games old. Would get 999 limited fps in css when tweaked.

Now the bad part. In my inexperience I bought a thermaltake case on someones advice and it being cheap. That thing is a nightmare to work on. So tight and crowded and poorly laid out. Airflow is pretty poor too. I am thinking/trying to make a gaming server out of it since it is running strong to this day.

Funny thing when I reinstalled cs:s and tweaked it using my old config and stuff on my new machine I was getting so much fps that it would say x239 in net graph meaning I was getting at least over 1000 if not more. This did cause issues. I couldn't use walk in game for some reason. Until I limited it to 999. So for once too much fps was a bad thing haha.

1000 is mental !

Yeah i think the prolonged life is due to my antec gaming case , theres a hiper type r in there too which has had an unusually long life for a psu lol !

Ya 1000 fps is mental but remember it is an old game and with the tweaks i made for competitive gaming to make people stand out easier and give myself that edge in game which were legal but the side effect is more fps. I might try the valve stress test to see what mad numbers I could get.

I still have a Pentium III 2.5GHz (Singel core) system somewhere. It has an 80GB HDD (added a 120GB later), 1GB of RAM (added another GB later) and a GeForce 5900 (later replaced by a 6200 :D

That thing is at least 10 years old by now and it still runs, actually not even too bad if all you do is browse the web and check email. I put Win7 on it :p Won't really run any games though xD

Talk about old, I'm still using a pentium 4 from 2004 running strong. The only thing that sucks about it is watching youtube only in 360p and it still kinda lags.

Pentium III 2.4Ghz?? Don't you mean Pentium 4?

Anyhow, the oldest system I have around is a Pentium 1, with 32MB of RAM and a 7-800MB HDD. Still has the original install of W95 on it, and still going strong!
