My first WC rig! STH10

Firstly, hi lads! I've been reading interesting stuff on this forum, and have found a lot of answers regarding hardware, but this is the first time I post.

Well I kinda got bit by the watercooling bug :) And it's mostly from watching TinyToms vids!! Thanks Tom keep ut the long awesome vids mate!

I have a perfectly "fine" gaming rig:

- White Thermaltake gt-10 case
- MSI 990 board
- some corsair 1600 mhz ram
- 8150 cpu (feel like a donkey after watching Toms review...Wish I knew before)
- two 7970s :D

Now, this is doing very well as far as gamin goes, but its getting a bit boring for me at this point...It's very limited with regards to watercooling without ripping the case apart with a dremel. That might be something I'll do at a later date, but since this is my first WC build, I wanted do keep it to attaching things, since I'm really not so handy with a dremel :D

So I decided I wanted to get a new case! I looked on tons of different ones, and there are a lot of cases I could have used with great success, but when I saw TinyToms review of the STH10 I fell completely in love with it... I loved that industrial massive feel it seemed to have, and by the time I was watching it for the umpteenth time, I knew I had to get it!

Fast forward, and I've spent countless hours finding out what parts I want, both with regards to the options the STH10 itself, and lets not even discuss how much grayer my hair is after the struggle I've had with learning all I can about the different watercooling parts and matching together what I'm going to get etc...puh
As I said, I've never done anything like this before.

The case itself has finally arrived! I was prancing around like a kid on christmas, and I REALLY enjoyed putting this monster of a case together! It was pure meditation for me :D

About the case itself, it's of immense build quality and everything just feels sturdy. It's made of thick aluminium, and has a very industrial texture to it. No smooth baby crap here :p

Some pics:

It is here! You can see the case I'm using now on the left :)

Open sesame

Getting somewhere!

Had to change the coverplate on the front buttons (on/off and reset)

Close up of the side panel texture

Aaand done! For now :) That's a 1,5 Liter bottle of pepsi, and the image doesn't do the monstrous size justice at all!

More to follow! I'll post what I'm planning to stick inside the case in a bit, and would love any experienced input on the bits and bobs...Stay tuned folks :beerchug:

Edit, here you go airdeano :D Ready with the spec list, let me know what you lads think!

- Mobo: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme

- CPU: Intel 3930K

- GPU: 2x7970s (Currently using them)

- Ram: 2x8Gb Corsais Dominator 1866 Mhz (Might get 2 more sticks later, for symmetrical looks :D )

- * SSD: Samsung SSD 840 Series 500GB 2.5" OEM

- * HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3Tb

- Corsair AX 1200w (currently using it)

- * Dell 27" LCD UltraSharp U2711

- Sennheiser PC 350 headset (currently in use as well)

- ASUS Xonar DG (have been usind it for a while, but I enjoy good sound, is it worth getting a better soundcard then this?)

- Probably still gonna use my faithfull Logitech G15 keyboard <3

- Currently using a Razer Naga Hex MOBA, with 6 thumb buttons in a hex pattern, but I'm super annoyed by it at this point, I just can't play without hitting them when moving the mouse... :(
So any advice towards getting a better suited gaming mouse is welcome...(I prefer big mice)

The ones with a * are things I've yet to order at this point, so if you'd advice against those parts, now is the time :)

Various things I've aquired thus far:

- red sleeved corsair cables

- NZXT black sleeved LED Kit Cable 2M White led's with variable lighting strength (I don't wanna go red here, It might be too much ...I want to keep it subtle in the main compartment)

Next, the watercooling parts!

Looking at your build dipzy, I really wish I got that 120.3 flex bay thingy instead of 3 x fan mount :(
That just looks so clean damnit :)

Ah well, I might even end up ordering that from caselabs...but thats only if I go into super tidy mode :p

I've finally ended up with a list of stuff I'm gonna chuck into this thing, and I feel pretty good about it...
It's a hefty sum of money, but this is gonna be so sweet :D

Pumps: 2 x Alphacool VPP655

Fans: Enermax UCTA12N-R T.B.Apollish Red 120 mm and 140 mm

Reservoir: Koolance RP-452X2 Dual 5.25" Reservoir

Fan contr: Lamptron Fan Controller FC6

Fittings: Koolance 19/13mm (ID 1/2" OD 3/4")

CPU block: XSPC RayStorm

Water: Mayhems "Aurora" - Tharsis Red Coolant

GPU blocks: Koolance VID-AR797 (Radeon HD 7970)

Mobo block: MIPS ASUS Rampage 4 Extreme Set Nickel POM Limited Edition

Tubing: Tygon R3603 14,3/11,1mm clear

Radiator Phobya G-Changer 480 Ver. 1.2

Radiator Phobya G-Changer 560

I'd avoid that Mayhems Aurora and go for some red pastel. The aurora is meant for show builds, not every day rigs.

I only can dream moment when UPS deliver me box with USA Flag(Made in USA, only for that hand I I was ready to pay 100$ more only because I can't look world virus any more I so wish from Japan, USA, UK, Netherland, Germany work)ahhh so rear....so cool to hear... so difference than from China...CASELABS...
CONGRATS on your fantastic build... My dream is little smaller Merlin SM8...
I love that motherboard tray can became benchmark table easy for 10 minutes,
than again in case for 10 minutes...

I read something about them like they made products for medicine, military, industry
I can imagine what is for such company to make PC case and how that is above other PC hardware producers...More precise work, probably little better material, painting,...connections...

I wish CASELABS to become more popular in Europe and MORE available all over Europe...
I think like EVGA EU, now enough people know for them, maybe little more few months and little office and magacin for fast distribution in Europe...
Than case can become only acceptable price over Obsidian 800D and similar like some Lian-Li models and much much better...

I know the aurora coolant is for show etc, but I've seen videos on youtube of people using it for more then 8 months with no problems, and after a 5 week vacation the system goes on, and the coolant mixes just fine straight away.

I've decided to go with the aurora, and order some ingredients needed for pastel deep blood red in case it goes cloggy on me.

If anyone has any experience with the coolant and have had problems with it, please let me know :)

Been a while now, but more stuff has arrived! :D

I decided to get a new mouse, as the one I was using got rather annoying with the six thumb buttons in a hex pattern...it just didn't work for me, as I kept hitting them at the wrong times. So I got a R.A.T. 9, and I'm very satisfied so far.

Had to get a new SSD, and the choice landed on a Samsung 840 500Gb
I also got two 3 Tb normal drives for storage.

Felt like getting a new mouse mat, so I got a huge one, and a new mechanical keyboard. I like the clacking sound of the keys :D

But the biggest thing is the new screen I got. It's a DELL 27" Ultrasharp U2711, and the jump from 24" 1920x1200 to this sick 2600x1440 was amazing. But the image quality itself was the biggest suprise to be honest, as my old screen was indeed, well, old...This one comes already set up and adjusted from the factory, so I didn't even have to do anything :) Great stuff.

I also FINALLY got the massive shipment from Aquatuning, so I have just started putting stuff together like the fans and radiators on the mounts etc. Pics o' rama will follow of that later :)

But for now, here are a few of the goodies I received...

Goodies arrive :D (that can is just compressed air for cleaning dust out of tight spaces)

Build seems like its going to be a beasty, you went a little overkill with the rad space tho :p

If anyone has any experience with the coolant and have had problems with it, please let me know :)

From talking to mick (mayhem) 99.9% of the problems with aurora come from the loop having dead flow areas as all the particles settle there(drain lines ect, HERE is a small list of tested kit) , at worst you will notice 1-3c warmer temps than say some pastel stuff from the begining and if you do have a dead flow area the sparkle starting to fade as the months pass, ive not seen a single case of the particles blocking a waterblock or anything tho so i wouldn't worry about that.

Finally back!

It's taken a long time, but I finally got around to building again!

I'm not gonna go too much into personal details, but basically, I've been extremely occupied with other things...

It took a long time to gather all the stuff I stacked away :)

Pictures of the now ongoing building are soon to follow!

Yeah I just took a few pics, but bare with me as I hopelessly fondle around trying to properly post pics again :D

Edit: Hey that went easier then I can remember

Here's my sweet new G19 keyboard...Starting to love this thing

It has a nifty little screen that lets me see core temps, for example. It doesnt work with this old cpu I had to put in my current rig, since my 8150 got wonky, but it showed the temps for the 8150.

It's damn hard to capture the right glow and colour of the fans, just take my word for it, they look even cooler looking at them with your own eyes. A deep sharp red!

I'm still very on the fence about the Mayhems Aurora Tharsis coolant...I got five bottles of the damn stuff sitting here, but I don't know if its really gonna be worth the "risk" of using it...Its not like this is gonna be a showrig, its just a personal fun project.

Anyone got any suggestions? Other colours or variants to consider?
