My first O/C :)

C2D 2160 Running @ 2.88Ghz

Temps are 28 Idle and 59 under load (Orthos Mem / Cpu test over night). Standard volts and running on stock cooling.

Everything's on auto ish.. It's a new system and I'm new to the BIOS but I'm sure there's some memory tweaking I can do, but for now, and 80% overclock will do me.

Which util do I use to accurately get my CPU Mhz? I assume cpu-z is more accurate than vista - which tells me it's a 3.24?

I`m not too familiar with Everest, but I think if u went into something like the Overclocking section, as shown in ur screenshot, it will also tell u what ur cpu is running at. That way u`ll know for sure if Vista or CPU-z is lieing :)

Usually strange answers are a result of software miss-reading how the mobo is handling ur clock speeds.

Do u notice any improvement in ur oc ? Perhaps if u`d run SuperPI b4 the oc and then after the oc, u`d see a definative answer.

have a check in the Overclock section in everest and see what that says

Congrats on the first OC :beerchug:

Vista`s lieing again !

Hundreds of pounds of software, multi-billion dollar company, and a piece of shareware can read the cpu working properly.

It never really worked in 98 or XP either. Guess it's not a priority for them... Just bloating up OS's eh?

Still - I'm thinking temps will get a little better when the compound on the cooler has reached it's thermal viscosity - probs takes about 3 days of running in.

I'm well chuffed though. Think I'll push for 3Ghz and leave it at that, but for now, I'll leave it at a 1.0Ghz o/c - pretty good for a £50 chip!

Yeah, the real test, as I mentioned, is if u benchmarked something b4 ur oc, then did it again after. I said SuperPI cos lots of people use it as a gauge to how well the cpu does against the other cpus.

Getting a "buzz" sound every now and again. It doesn't sound like the PC speaker. More a buzz than a beep. Was just on the desktop and it came on, then went off.

Presume its some alarm? Anyone any idea? It's a P35 DS3R (F6 BIOS) if that helps.
