This is my first build and it is far from perfect.

My Current system specs are:

Case: casecom CS-13
PSU : Alpine 600w
Motherboard: asus P8H61
CPU: intel core i3 2100 @ 3.2ghz
HDD: 2x western digital 320 GB
1x western digital 500 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon sapphire HD6870

i plan to upgrade parts in the near future any suggestions to what i should upgrade will be very helpful

When i got all of the components together i began to build.

Before cable management!

I have improved the cable management, it isn't the best but it is better than before, i am still waiting for the 4pin ATX extender as the calble is too short.

I have used a blue cathode for lighting!

the GPU only recently arrived so i had been using intergrated graphics for a while but now i have my GPU installed! :)

And what setup do you have ?
OP: could do some wire management :)

but not bad at all for a "first' rig matey !
Greetings, Ray.......

If you want to see my setup look for "My 600T Build. 3570k | Sabertooth Z77 | 560ti" in the rig gallery :)

I also wish I could show my sarcasm.

Rather harsh talk.....

At least try to be constructive...

@OP, nicely done, i would look at a new PSU however, cheap PSU's are a bad idea, and are likely to blow, ending your rig with them usually.

Well first off, not too shabby for a first time build! Do you intend on trying processor overclocking at some point in time? If so I would recommend upgrading to a z77 motherboard first (build from the ground up and all that). Your video card will tide you over in the meantime so that's the last thing to be concerned about. Next would be the RAM: nothing less than 8 GB at 1600 Mhz operating frequency, ideally for a gaming rig (I think that's what yer going for with this one?) you would want to look at an 8GB kit at 1866 Mhz, but that all depends on budget, and 1600 Mhz memory performs quite admirably anyway.

Last thing I would upgrade after that is the processor. I suggest this order because first of all it's the most expensive part, and should be thought on the most. My suggestion: if you're just going for gaming mostly, an i5 3570K would be best, since the price point is right, it has plenty enough cache and efficient enough architecture to not be a bottleneck for pretty much all video cards, and is unlocked to allow you to play around with it some (plus you won't miss the hyper threading of the i7 lineup, and paying extra for that is silly). If you don't intend on overclocking OR going for an SLI/CrossFire configuration then this saves you the trouble of changing out motherboards at least, and enables you to get a multiplier locked processor like the standard i5 3570 which is roughly ten us dollars cheaper. The only thing I would check on is whether or not there is a BIOS update for the board that lets it support third gen Core i processors.

beyond that you will start to see the limitations of your video card and can select a better option from there. That one is totally subjective, and depends on what YOU want it to do and the limitations of your existing PSU. Given your existing PSU and given that you wind up selecting an i5 processor, that PSU should be able to handle any single GPU card in the nVidia family, and up to the 7950 in the AMD family.

Also remember that overclocking requires a significant upgrade to your processor cooling, depending on how extreme you want to try to go with it. Overclocking can also greatly reduce the life expectancy of your processor, so do this with caution and seek the help of someone more experienced with this before trying it on your own. There are plenty of members that are regularly int he overclocking section of this forum who I'm sure would be more than happy to assist you there.

Your storage options appear to be based on what you had access to: it suits your needs currently, so so much the better. However at some point as budget allows I would also look into a SSD of no less than 128 GB of storage space for your OS and primary applications. That alone will breathe tons of speed into even the most lol-worthy builds.

Hope this helped some!

Just a quick update on my rig..... Thanks for all of the constructive comments.. i have ordered a better PSU (Corsair CX430) and it should arrive next week

i will post pics when im finished...

After the PSU is fitted i am going to look for a mobo that supports faster SATA transfer speeds for when i fit my SSD...

if u think there is a better way i can spend my money on this computer please tell me :D
