smoking ban is in sight, 2 months to go.

im trying:D to give up smoking, havent had one since the 1st of May (a week ago:eek: ), and im finding it really hard going down the pub seeing people still smoking while im trying to give up.

anyone eles in the same boat as me? or you are all sensible and know smoking is rubbish and instead of buying crappy cigs, spent money on distill water instead?

argh.....its hard!

im feeling sick of chewing gums, and i dont want to tw@t myself with a chocolate bar....or should i give up giving up and just wait till everyone stops on july the 1st?:p

dont give up trying to give up, if you carry on the with what your doing now it will make it 10 times easier to completly give up when the smoking ban comes.

I've never really smoked, but im sure its a pretty hard thing to give up. So your doing well!!

Keep it up!

Stopping long enough to allow the Cillia in your trachea to grow back, and then starting to smoke again, killing them back off massively increases your chances of throat cancer. Once you find yourself coughing up crap then you really shouldn't start again.

Just hold out for now mate, only take enough money to the pub for X amount of pints :)

Wait, smoking ban, communist what? Are they not letting you smoke at all in the UK anymore??

Smoking has been banned in public places such as pubs and shops. Under the law, anything with 3 or more walls and a roof is a no smoking zone. It's basically been put in place because of the number of deaths caused by passive smoking per year, and the extra strain that puts on the NHS. I'm all for it tbh, people can still smoke in the open and a lot of pubs have done up their beer gardens for it with heaters and massive ubrellas.

The ban is already in place in scotland and here in wales (think ireland too) and is coming into effect in england soon

Yeah, ireland has the ban too, Was nice coming back to the hotel still smelling of my aftershave instead of cigs.

I went to Cardiff last week and it was nice to go to the pub and it not smell of smoke tbh. I say just hold out, and then you can laugh at your mates who try and quit when the ban comes in :)

Ok well thats better than I was thinking. From the sound of it, it sounded like you wouldn't be able to smoke anywhere including your home or outside.\

We pretty much have the same laws here in the states.

lovin the smoking ban :D its great great !!!!!

problem is @ the local rock bar instead of smelling Marlboro's when i leave the stench of sweaty rockers lingers around

U don`t honestly believe that do u ?

I haven`t noticed any difference personally after the ban, I`m not the sort of person who would light up in a resturant, I don`t find that very respectful mehself. U can`t exactly enjoy u`r food with smoke in u`r face.

What I would rather have seen is premesis volunterily?? banning it in their establishments, other than having the gov. tell them they can`t allow it.

I do sneakingly see a place or 2 having a helping hand with their decor too.

I`d prefer to have seen a ban on the number of cars per household or something, bit more practical perhaps.

just hang on in there buddy, i've tried to give up many times and failed :(

The no smaking ban in Wales is good, even from a smokers point of view, I find myself smoking a lot less and not stinking so much. Also helps that we don't smoke in our house or cars either.

the only down side is if it does lead to lots of people giving up, then where are the government going to make back the extortionate tax they already make on tobacco.........

See now u could see this as a cynical gamble by a gov. that thinks they might lose the next election.

The party that takes over from them will have to fund the shortfall from somewhere - hence the tax rise - then they`re unpopular again.

I mean which political party would be against a ban in this `pc` day`n`age, it`d be political suicide.

thanks guys, i'll try not to use excues like ''im breathing too much fresh air, i feel sick''

LOL

AydST - try putting the money you would have spent each day on cigs in front of you, as it piles up, you might consider stopping......im doing that now, and it does help 'a bit' LOL

Never smoked never will. Enless you count burning component smoke... But thats not really volentary.

Working in a corner shop i see the amount smokers spend, and thats nearly enough to give me a heat attack. Too make it worse i sit there thinking 'Thats nearly a new CPUs worth!'

I cannot wait for the smoking ban.. I find myself trying to what the footie down the pub.. and I start to die.

SMOKING IS EVIL

lucky ppl who never started smoking , im 15 and have been smoking for a year now about a pack a day , when i go out i usually consume more ... i tried quitting but after 3 days i started sweating and getting bad withdrawal symptoms ,my mum is a doctor and all my family is against cigaretts smoke . in fact when i was young i used to break the cigs of strangers and used to tell them it was bad ... now i smoke myself

in malta is practically the same ban which has been effect for 2 yrs now

I think it's excellent you are trying to give up as I'm sure it is very hard.

I really am for the smoking ban aswell. On sat I went to weston to a gig and came back smelling of cannabis smoke :(
