MSI & NZXT have Teamed up to provide a Z170 RGB Bundle, giving away an NZXT HUE+ RGB lighting kit with every Z170 Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard. Not bad for less than £130.

Not bad. It's a good option to combat ASUS' Auras capabilities.

I quite like the look of the board too. Less red = more betterer*.

FFS i don't get this RGB light built into the Motherboard to me it's stupid and pointless, What if RGB light dies and it might take the motherboard with it.

RGB Light is soooo stupid too me, There is nothing wrong with using a LED strip.

I would still prefer the Asus after what the z97 krait was like. Z170 version is better but.

given the choice I'd go Asus just for consistency with my GPUs

Don't buy it then :P

You're right in that LED strips can achieve most of what we need.

RGB motherboards are not a bad thing though as you can choose the colour you like to go with your internals and to match your light strips. It's just an option after all. As long as 'off' is selectable then everybody is happy (although at a slight price premium)

Asus do a really nice one as well and the videos I've watched are really selling it to me. Match the case lighting to the motherboard and LED strips. Change them at will. I wonder if anyone does an external LED strip controller that can interface with the HUE+ or Aura lighting? Match your desk or monitors as well.

Nope i still don't get the point of RGB motherboards, Like i said if the lighting on the motherboard dies then i still think it takes the whole motherboard with it, To me LED strips will always be better than having them built onto the the motherboard

I totally agree, I think it is pointless. To the same extent that RGB headsets are about as much use as tits on a fish.

LED strips or LED fans are enough.

So is this just two separate products bundled together or do they sync up?

Both? I think the Hue thing plugs into the board with an internal USB header and you run software from Windows? So it's sorta kinda synced?

I read a review of the board today and it has its own RGB LED 'thing' but I don't think it controls the Hue.

Thats what I mean - its then seperate.

I can't find anything on CAM being able to control the "mystic light' RGBs so I would guess that you can match them but need to use the two separate apps. Not quite as neat as Asus but still the same end result.

That's because you can't dude. It looks like you use this app to control the board LEDs

So yeah, you would also have to try and match it using CAM which could work out to be a bit of a PITA.

Yeah not as clean but I can't see MSI going open source with their software to allow CAM to use it. Maybe they'll just put a header on the mobo like Asus (unless it's licenced)
