MSI Issues Statement Regarding Starlit Partner Controversy

Translation -

"We got caught so we're making the usual corporate excuses, We'll continue to do this type of stuff as we worship money, We'll just be more careful in the future to not get caught"

Folks, a sub-company of MSI sold four GPUs at prices which were the going rate on eBay at the time.

I think it is believable that someone was dumb and sent them four RTX 3080s to sell. They guy selling them likely just looked on eBay for a reasonable price and just listed them. As MSI said, they usually deal with excess inventory and refurbished parts.

Things have been blown way out of proportion, and MSI has responded in the only way that's appropriate in ultra-fast time.

People are quick to call out greed here, but if MSI were greedy and really wanted to do this, they wouldn't do it in such a sloppy way. That, and they would have sold more than four GPUs...

You're quite likely correct, I just have a low view of companies in general ^_^

I disagree. MSI knew what was going on. You don't lose inventory of a low supply HIGH demand item like that. MSI knew and was very much trying to skirt around the fact. We don't need to be attempting to make excuses for companies showing predatory business practices like this.

So you reckon they knowingly risked their reputation for like two and a half grand in profit?

Because only four people were dumb enough to buy them at that price and because they caught them early.

How is it dumb if you have disposable income and the hiked price is still pennies for you?
Im pretty sure quite alot of people would pay over MRRP if they knew that next stocks wont be available in bulk until next year sometime.

Its just their Want outweighed their need.
