msi gtx 780 oc sli and power usage?

Permafrost

Compo Whore
so i've been lucky in my search for a new gpu and got offered two MSI gtx 780 gaming oc cards

i've used a power eXtreme power supply calculator

but i don't understand what "Capacitor Aging" is? and what % i should set it as?

cpu load at 90%
full system load 90%
with using two gtx 780's i'm using 669w
add 15% aging and it's 762w
at 10% aging it's 732w
my specs without gpus

i7 4770k running at 4.4 @ 1.150v (stock 3.9 @0.990v
Asus sabertooth Z87
18w ddc pump
5 x gentle typhoon ap-13 (1150 RPM looking for 5 more)
2tb HDD
samsung 250GB 840 evo
kingstion beast 2400mh @ 1.65v
NZXT Hue lighting

psu: Corsair AX760

so what do you guys think would i be pushing my luck with the psu or will i be ok?

Take those calculators with a pinch of salt. I used the coolermaster one just there for my setup including cpu overclock and it said I needed 800 watts. I think my system would have shown signs of issues by now if there wasn't enough power. Been running my system like this on a AX760 for a good while now and no issues even when stressing it.

You will find it hard to stress both gpus and cpus fully at the same time so there will be some wiggle room. I am thinking of upgrading to 780ti sli soon so if I do I will be able to let you know if I have enough.

what's your set dude?

Its in my sig but the jist is

3930k at 4.6ghz
Gtx sli overclocked
16gb ram
1 2tb hard drive
2 ssds
and a h100 cooler
Ax760

I will probably be pushing the crap outta my psu tbh so I may be upgrading that too but I will have a look and see if my AX760 can handle it outta curiosity.

oops just seen that that lol

680 is about 195w but the 780 is 250w so your saving over 100w there

Yes but the calculators for 680s say I need more than what I have. That is my point. You should be fine when you consider your cpu wont be as power hungry.

If mine is drawing approx 200w with the overclock (130w stock) and lets say your is 120w overclocked (84w stock) then you have 80w there alone to make up the difference between the 680s and 780s.

yeah i just changed the 780's to 680's and there's 30w in it...(732w)

this is why i'm asking other people what they think.

If you can afford it I would go for the AX860 and be done with it. Only reason I havn't is I had an AX760 before I went sli 680 and it worked fine so never changed. I will more than likely be changing to an AX860 myself if I go 780ti sli but I might be able to get away with a 760 but that would be really pushing it.

yeah might go on a well known site and see who's got what..

That should be fine, I ran GTX 480 sli (like being in an oven) on a HX 850 and it still works fine and that was with an equally power hungry i7 920.

Personally I would not like to stress that PSU too much. Probably copes well for stock settings but if you overclock I would guess it puts a strain on the PSU.

I have an 850W seasonic and I feel skeptical on the load while overclocking my 780sli and 3570k.

i don't plan to overclock the gpus just the cpu is overclocked....

anyone know if there is software to give me a wattage read out?
