MS support for Vista Ultimate question

Does anyone have any ideas as to why M$ would do this?

I can't find any info on it not even speculation as to what they have in mind

Support for Windows Vista Ultimate Edition ends April 10 2012

Even support for Windows XP Home & MCE doesn't end until April 10 2014!

So Microsoft will only support Vista Ultimate for 5 years!

Is it because of the fabled "Windows 7"?

Is Vista just a stop-gap system?

Just remember that the gap between XP and vista was alot longer that it was meant to be, so dont be suprised when you see a new OS even sooner.

But to answer your questiong, what kemp said sounds logical to me.

Aye, Longhorn will be around for some time whether there's a new OS or not

From what I heard the next lot of MS OS's will be small steps and be cheaper

prob meaning even less change in each os.

I'm failing to see what you base this on? Microsofts support has been pretty good with Vista, it's every other company who have failed.

Again, agree with kemp. They have helped alot with the fixes ect. I dont think anyone in the world has released a product that 100% of people have been satisfied with.

Fixes fixes and fixes for the fixes.

Strive for the 100$!

oops freudient slip >.<

Meant 100%.

U should be allowed to pay for the software in installments. Something along the lines of £10 a month (which sound familiar) - HOWEVER - each time a hotfix comes out, which implies u`r software is faulty in some way, u should get refunded from the date u bought it upto the day the kb came out. Then continue paying u`r monthly fee.

It sounds pretty darn silly, but it`d get results.

Joking aside, other than some small things, I`ve found Vista pretty stable without issue, as an OS. Very hungry tho, just wish I knew what I was feeding.

EDIT: from that pov Vista is a pos. Outside of fancy gimmick stuff u could 3rd party onto XP, it wants alot for giving u very little. It`s not good progress, imo of course, to bring this out and demand more resources for little reason. It`s bad tech for starters. The thing that would amaze me is if it gave the results it gives now for less resources, then u can atleast point u`r finger at some progress tech wize.
