Moving back to Newcastle for phase-change

I`m kicking ideas around regarding the Winchester low-temp bug and was wondering if there would be any point in moving back to the 130nm Newcastles seeing as they dont appear to suffer from it.

Obviously if i`m buying a new processor, Venice should get a look in but i`ve heard they suffer the low-temp bug as well, but can cope with lower temps so "low-end" phase-change doesnt bother it.

Any opinions?

Mate I would go san diego personally or failing that venice. They have a cold bug when you getto around -80c I think. So unless you're running a cascade or something it shouldn't be a problem.

Nick's absolutely right Venice or San Diego mate, although most cold bugs are related to the BIOS rather than the chip itself.

Dazboots on this forum has a venice 3800 running at 3.4Ghz under R507 cooling (-50degrees) and there are no such issues cold booting.

Although like Nick, I have seen that they do not like -80 degrees or lower temps, AFAIK mere phase changeing mortals will not get near that.
