Motor coolant for watercooling PC

Its glycol the other additives in it i would be concerned over.

I would imagine that there would be no benefit to use for water cooling your pc, it be even yield in a loss in performance. Essentially, I believe that if you use that, then you'll get less than or equal to the cooling ability of normal water cooling for pc.

The purpose of antifreeze is so that the water in you car will be harder to freeze or boil. If the water freezes in your car, then you risk your car components being cracked, like the engine block, because water expands when it changes to ice. If the water boils, then the water turns to gas and pressure goes up in the loop then it blows something.

There should be no reason to use antifreeze for pc water cooling because that is not what antifreeze/car coolant is designed for.

I've heard that it tastes sweet, but you'll die if you drink it. lol

I wouldn't suggest you do that, but it's an option. Honestly, I have no knowledge/first hand experience of the uses for antifreeze outside of what I've already said.

Good thing you said not to drink it, had a glass of the sweet green liquid next to me. Almost took a sip!

It's no worse for you than mountain dew, which is a similar colour.

THIS IS A JOKE. Ethylene glycol is toxic and could kill you, it effects are also cumulative.

The jury is still out on the long term effects of mountain dew.

I wouldn't bother putting it in a loop. As stated before you won't actually require any of it's properties. You'll also add a health hazard to the pc, I've used ethylene glycol with high power rf devices and if you get a leak it's a complete pig to cleanup due to its sticky nature.

. We have a new product made from Ethylene glycol how ever we have a patented additive preventing Ethylene Glycol from being metabolised (during digestion) into toxic by-products, which cause kidney failure, blindness and death. Making it 100% human safe.

Yeah I knew you had altered something when I got my first litre of fluid, not that I drank it to check your work. Still think the glycol in engine coolant carries the same risk. I was told on a coshh course that 100 ml was enough to prove fatal.

Yes normaly it is. How ever this is new and we haven't added it to any products yet were using it in our new X2 (still in development) which is a None dye coolant.

Chemistry was never one of my great subjects. Only things I really remember was stuff that blows up. Mmmmm Caesium.

I will try 50-50 with the motor coolant and distilled water. I will also add some biocide and possibly a silver coil just in case
