Motherboard and CPU help

Hello I'm looking to upgrade my ageing core 2 duo e7200 and Intel DG43RK motherboard, that keeps giving me bluescreens out of nowhere. I'm not quite sure on whether to go for AMD or Intel. My maximum budget is £130 just FYI.

I had thought about a pentium g3258 and an ASrock H97M board, but as I plan to upgrade to a core i5 when broadwell is released should I drop the pentium to a celeron to save a bit of money? I plan on only doing light gaming (csgo mainly) until I finish my GCSEs, and then upgrading to an i5 plus a GTX 960.
I could of course go for an AMD Athlon 860K but I am worried about the upgrade path that might entail, as an i5 (in my mind) would keep me going a for a good 5 years.

Any input into this situation will be appreciated :)

If there is no productivity just the gaming I would go AMD get more straight up then sell the AMD and board to get a board when you can afford your upgrade to i5 and GTX970. I find the pentium in my HTPC to be very lacking even at 4GHz although it runs very cool and quiet with that over clock.

An ASUS M5A78L-M board can handle every FX CPU up to the 8370. I would recommend getting that board then either get a processor from the FX-6300 and up. CS:GO loves more cores and if you get something like an 8350 the performance difference between that and an i5 wouldn't be noticeable.

But then again CS:GO does >100 FPS on a Pentium 850 and HD 7770 :p

Fair enough, although the 8350 and the 6300 chips, are golden performers in their price leagues, never heard someone having a major issue with them

I can't recommend the G3258 enough for light > mid range gaming, it'll rock Crysis 2 at enthusiast settings with the 750ti ;) it plays quite a lot of AAA titles with ultra settings but only once OC'd past 4.0Ghz.
