LOL, 'penny jar'... got a 55 gallon drum lying around?

That watered-down 8800 sounds like what I was looking for at launch, but since the 8800GTS will likely sell for about $400 in the next month or two I'm good with the standard GTS. For anyone getting an 8800 I would definitely recommend that 320mb version for the $300 price, but would like to see some benchmarks.

Hmm looking at the trend of $=£, I think it`ll further the fuel for US importing of sorts.

$300 for a high-quality gfxcard - to me - is an excellent price.

~£280 for the same deal is enough to make u spit.

U do have to consider postage on these, but with an ever increasing wave of hands across the pond shaking hands, this is getting even less of an issue than ever. Either that, or u can get the companies to ship to u direct, which is maybe that much more.

I`ve got 2 parcels on the way to me, packed with lianli goodness and bountifuls of cpu/gpu coolers and other junk. They weigh in @ about 14lb and 18lb. Postage for each is around $30+. To me, again, that`s crazy cheap. I send 1 parcel back the same way and it costs me £60... bizarre.

Think in a while I`m gonna order cpu + mobo + gfx from the US and give and itemized costing for what I paid and the UK equiv. Just to see.

Current GTS is already $400 @ Newegg and some other places. Therefore I'm expecting the 320MB to drop to something below $300 within a few weeks. Good time to buy imo :yumyum:

I don't know about below $300, probably from $300 to $350 (oc specials and the like). The prices will most likely stay where they are until ATI comes out and puts something on the market for nVidia to answer to, which means another top end card and then 8800 series will drop in price yet again (but not much).

The real question is: Can a pair of 8800GTS 320MB cards in SLI beat out a GTX? The GTX will have more memory, but can the two gpu's outperform the current single gpu uberbeasty? If it doesn't, then it isn't worth it as an SLI solution when a single card for the same money will outperform it.

As an upgrade to a DX10 card and on a budget, the 8800GTS 320MB is really a steal with the option to upgrade to two for SLI.

The sensible thing to do, competition wize, would be to drop u`r price b4 ati bring out their cards, by maybe a matter of a few weeks.

U`ve already made u`r nuggets off the peoples who`ve bought them well b4 dx10 came onto the horizons, just put the prices into a zone where people can`t resist buying them. Then when ati decide to launch, they`d be stoopid to release them at the price they felt they could get away with previously.

Their sales then will probably be limited to those who`re gonna by ati, coz they`re atis and already have atis - and - those who have to buy em just coz they`re new.

We`ll see tho.
