Monitors these days?...

Hello everyone,

The other day I watched Hardware Unboxed recent video on not to upgrade your GPU, but your monitor instead (for some reason, linking Youtube videos on OC3D is totally bricked. You can insert the link, but the post is completely blank. Have seen this on several other users posts as well)

And it got me thinking, cause I've started seeing some pixels come and go from time to time on my LG monitor. This is an 27GL850 which I purchased 2019-10-30, so almost 5 years soon.

Monitors have come a long way in recent years, specifically regarding Mini LED and OLED. OLED on phones looks absolutely stunning in comparison to LCD's back in the days etc.

I've used 27" and 1440p for the longest time. But considering what he mentioned in the video regarding the monitor is literally what you stare at all day and I literally consume most of my day time, with Youtube, movies and series on it.

I've been thinking of maybe going 32" or 34" depending on said models, due to they different from brands.

Although I'm not sure wether to go OLED or not, and wether 1440p or up to 4K for anything over 30"?

I know that Dicey has said few times that going 1440p on anything over 30" is like seeing an 27" at 1080p rather than 27" 1440p. The image is not as sharp, which makes sense.

I'm also not for RGB and much lights, the 4K model of my monitor is basically what I'd like. Thin bezels, no branding etc. Looks professional.

This is a bit out of my zone today, hence this thread to get some ideas, tips and brainstorming on what to get or perhaps get some kind of guidance on where to look at/for in terms of an next monitor.

Thanks,
D

im happy on a 1440p 34" Still better than most HDRs on the market and its years old now. And no dead pixels either.

For me wanting 4k and sacrificing frames is a no go. I see zero reason why i would prefer upgrading monitors over gpus if I was pushed to making an upgrade.
