Monitor Overclocking ?

I managed to overclock my dads 24" Asus IPS panel from 60Hz to 74Hz just for giggles.

I was wondering how safe it is, Can it burn out ? Can it simply stop working because of this ?

Any info is appreciated

Well I have had my sony TV OC'd to 95hz (~2 years), my p370em chimei panel OC'd to 120hz (19 months) and my old BenQ m2700HD OC'd to 85hz (~4 years)

all of them are still perfectly fine and they still function the same as when I first got them. My only problem is with the p370em laptop panel, after I wake it from standby it doesnt wake the panel, but thats not really an issue.
 
Google CRU overclock and you will find something called custom resolution utility(?), though if you have an Nvidia card it is much easier and you can just go to the Nvidia control panel> Display>change resolution and then create custom res.

Please note that as with all OC activities, they are at your own risk and the developers are not liable for any issues that may or may not occur
 
Yep found a guide aswell as the program... will give it a shot

Luckily the Nvidia control panel has this function built into it :)

Also good luck iBeInspire, hope you get good results, also remember to test for any frame skipping etc etc, as it can be deceiving if you manage to achieve a certain OC and dont get any artifacts.
 
Currently running 75Hz on the Reduced LCD preset, confirmed in my monitor's OSD.
75Hz wasn't stable on normal LCD preset but 70 was, however the 75Hz on reduced feels smoother to me.

So yeah. OC to 75Hz in about 20 minutes... not too bad xD
Feels much nicer when scrolling through webpages, will test games soon. Hopefully it's stable and I don't have any issues :)
 
You should be fine, to be honest I have yet to come across a panel that cannot do more than 75hz, yours would be the first to some degree.
 
I want to overclock my Logik 42" 1080p TV to 85Mhz but it show does not support.
I applied the resolution and want to change the Mhz. Anyway I could do this? Or am I doing it incorrect.
 
Tried it ages ago on my AOC E2795VH monitor and it will not go above 65hz at 1080p, but if I drop the resolution down to 1280x720 the monitor defaults to 75hz.

Next month I am getting a new monitor and it's either going to be the Acer 4K Gsync monitor or a 144hz monitor, just depends on what money I want to spend though.
 
I've tried to do this on all of my displays and i can't even get above 61Hz before i get an out of range message come up. (Dell 2408WFP, iiyama PLH540S and my panasonic UT50 plasma) The iiyama can do 1024x768 at 144Hz but it's a bit pointless at that resolution.

unfortunately there is a limit that your panel will support. Say for instance you have a 1080p monitor, it will never go over 1920 width or 1080 height, though you can create resolutions and even then it could look terrible or decent depending on how your monitor scales.
