Hey There,

First of all I wanna say that my English isn't the best, because I'm from Belguim. So on topic: I found my rig a bit boring, so I decided to mod my case to see what I could get out of my fantasy. I saw a lot of people on Youtube modding their Cm 690II case, so I decided to do the same, but in my own way.

My hardware:

  • Gigabyte x58A-UD7 REV 2.0
  • Intel Core i7 960 4.2 GHZ 1.31v
  • CoolIT ECO ALC c240
  • XFX HD6850 Black Edition
  • Sapphire HD6850
  • Corsair Vengenance 6gb cl8 1600mhz
  • Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W 92%
  • 2*OCZ Vertex2 60gb in RAID 0
  • 1TB Hitachi Deskstar 24/7 7200rpm
  • Generic Samsun DVD rewriter

So the first thing I did was to remove the plastic covers that where present on the coolers of tje GPU, and guess what, it made them much quieter and I had better temps with lower fan speed, so was the noise.

Second, I removed all the plastic that was present below the grils of the top and frontpannels. I also removed the mesh, since I don't need it.

What I did after it was to paint the metal parts of the case in a kind of blue:

What I will also do in the future is to replace the SickleFlow fans with ones that are quieter. But they must have Blue leds. I was thinking of some Phobya's or some NoiseBlockers 1000RPM's. Anyone suggestions ?

I'll keep you guys updated, because there's a lot to come and to be done.

Some things To Do:

  • Get and install blue CCFL lights
  • Install a Big 40*40cm window of plexiglass in the sidepannel
  • Enlarge the side pannel to have more room for cable management at the back. I will do this by inserting a black UV plexiwindow that is 2-3cm from the case. I know it's hard to explain but think of the back of a CRT screen, and you'll get what I mean
  • Install a small LCD screen for monitoring the temperature of my rad
  • Build a fan controller in the top of the case
  • painting the hdd cages in the same blue
  • painting the screws that hold the side pannels in blue
  • get some noise absorbing pads for my fans
  • redo the cable management at the back
  • Cut holes/install mesh in the side pannel to have the posiblity to have both plexi and fans
  • painting the pci brackets

In the 2 weeks to come I have exams (I'm only 16), so I won't be able to do much. But after exams I will be doing everyday or so something with the case, if I have the money ofcourse.

Fzzl frzz to post some comments and suggestions guys !

Cheers
