mobo + cpu combo

Hi everyone, i'm looking into building a gaming rig. i've been reading lots about the new tech + hardware.

i happen to see a combo deal today which is EVGA 780i 3way-SLI mobo + intel C2Q Q6700

total is 500 cnd

is that good deal?

some other parts i have in mind is cosmos S case with ocz reaperX 4g ram etc. since there isn't any watercooling parts store around my place, i will have to go with air cooling for now until i can find a place for the parts.

thx in advance

All of the parts you mentioned are very nice. However, if you're hoping to get some high overclocks and aren't thinking about using SLI, you might want to consider a motherboard with an Intel chipset.

The price for that chip + mobo is pretty damn good if $500CND ~= £250

thx, i'm still looking for good deal with the pair of video card. currently have 8800GTx2 in mind and maybe 9600GTx2

as for overclock, not a hardcore clocker but i do try what i can with what i got.

origionally i have C2D E8400 with asus striker2 780 in mind but after reading the review, it seems to me that it really isn't that much of difference compare to asus max striker. on top of that, this combo shows up, kind makes me wonder if i should change my mind.

How much future proofing u looking to get ?

Only ask cost the best price per performance would be the E6750, and the P35 mobos are solid.

No sli`ing there tho.

actually aside from upgrade from air cooling to water cooling when i got all parts sort out for it, i don't think i will upgrade for awhile. at least not until my rig can't run the game i want play :p

by the way, after look through deal completely, i find the cpu is OEM. will that be a big issue?? mobo is retail box though. also, is there lots different version for the mobo?? coz it shows A1 version.

thx

If your watercooling, an oem cpu will be fine. Just means u don`t get the stock-cooler and fancy box.

cool thx

now, all i need is order those water cooling parts from us and i can start building my dream rig :yumyum:

sadly they don't sell those parts in canada or that'd be nice.
