Mix and match

Hi just a quick one,

Can i mix and match GPU vendors of a reference card?

i have a EVGA Gtx780 ref and can i SLI it with a ZOTAC ref card?

Ta.

doesn't the VRam amount also have to match? (yes I'm aware they are but just thought it worth mentioning)

VRam doesn't have to match since only the first card's memory will be utilized.
So make sure you put the one with the most VRam in the 1st slot :P

erm...are you sure? my understanding is that all textures are loaded to all cards in an SLI configuration but if they have mismatched memory then they all revert to the lowest-common denominator - i.e. if you have a 3GB card and 2GB card then the 3GB card will only use 2GB of that memory, but that the memory on both cards is used - otherwise it'd be slow as hell, the second card would have to use the, much slower, PCIe bus for all memory access.

That's what I meant, sorry... Wasn't clear

Each card uses it's own allocated vram on the pcb. Which each card uses independently from the other.
In SLI/Xfire it just allocates different than a single card. You need the same GPU in order for it to work.. except in PhysX mode with a seperate card.

Yes unless you run a utility called Coolbits.

I have never used it but from what I have heard it is a bit of a pain.
