I emailed my competitor on Pcmark05 and asked how he managed to get such a great improvement in his scores.

Very sportingly he shared his success:

Hi, are you the one with the score 8456?

The only change I ' ve done is that I ' ve changed the SATA cables from 1 - 2 to the position 1 - 4! And it worked! The performance amazed me too.

Dinos

So I am running in ports 1-2 (or is it 3-4) so I am gonna try that and see what improvements are presented to me - as I have tried all the other tweaks I can possibly can and this really is last chance saloon to re-gain the world crown.

Thinking about it, what this could do is split the resource between two channels - rather than put both disks on the same channel (Parallel instead of series so to speak) so it could be a good boost.

But I think either way, Dinos Mike's sporting conduct should be recognised and applauded.

I salute you sir.

Yeah that is nice of him. Very interested to see if you get an improvement Mav.

Fair play to the old boy, I expect a lot of people in the upper echelons would be more than a little tight-lipped when it comes to helping out their closest rival. I know that there are a couple of tweaks that the top 3d benchers are keeping secret.

Any update on your progress with this tweak Mav?

The more I think about it the more I think we could all benefit from having a dedicated thread or forum section for sharing our tweaks and theories. As much as we may think we know all the tweaks we can never rule out the existence of better tweaks and/or practices... the real trick is to always keep one's mind open to new ideas and concepts.

To quote Socrates; "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing."

All this can be explored in the overclocking section JAFFA mate - my 3d tips and tweaks are in the 3d section.

I take on board what you are saying about tweaks etc - the new features on the current forum have just been implemented and one thing that we want to avoid is a site with so many options that people just get frustrated scrolling through it all.

To quote Mav 'if in doubt....... ask'
