Microsoft XP Pro 64 bit

Hi Guys

Now that 64 bit Windows has matured somewhat and support for both apps and drivers are a lot better, I've been considering upgrading. I've used Linux under 64 bit quite a lot, and decided that I'd make the move with Windows as well. What I want to know is, are Microsoft still honouring the upgrade to 64 bit by having you resign the 32 bit key. So effectively, is the 32 bit product key that you once owned (after having upgraded) useless? I can't seem to find anything about it on the MS website. Or do I have to purchase the full version again?

All comments or linky appreciated

I'm 99% certain that was a short run promo offer, I think you have to buy it now.

I guess Jim runs 64 bit on his main rig and it works out pretty well for him, I had nothing but problems with it when I last used it, and that is with my upgrade disc from the program you were talking about :(

i use 64 bit server 2003, and have had nothing but improvements. most hardware offers x64 drivers, and it is only the minority of lesser known components that do not.

i sugegst you check support in advance tho (assuming you havent done so already)
