what do you guys think of this os. im thinking about using it. are there any glitches or anything else in the os that i should know about? any programs i can run? thanks for the imput.

I've been running 2003 x64 for a while now (same as XP), and i quite like it.

As long as all your devices have 64-bit drivers available then you should be good to go.

how do i know if all my hardware runs 64bit drivers?

Check the website of the manufacturer

for eample check nvidia's drivers site for an nvidia card

There will be a compatibility list somewhere but I would check the actual manufacturers list

Most hardware now does have x64 drivers. ATI, Nvidia, Intel, Soundblaster, Realtek, Logitech, Microsoft all have fully working drivers.

The main things you want to make sure are x64 compatable are things like printers, scanners, mobile phones/pda's, cameras - and any other odds and sods that you might plug in to your system.

Sound advice from above ^^ :)

Linux has 64 bit too if you're interested, but I think the 32 bit version is better atm due to better hardware and peripheral driver support.

their is a known issue which causes memory leaks.

had it through 2 installations and after llooking around on planetamd64 i found im far from alone.

another fellow who had the same problem said he found out it was .net framework not working asit should.

almost everyone over at planetamd64 claimed it was lack of memory and that xp64 demans 2gb memory to run smooth but thats just BS

also the support is horrible.

logitech doesnt support my mouse mx510

leadtek didnt support my tv-card

the ethernet drivers from nvidia didnt work as good as they should, had drops in downloadspeed.

also the gfx card drivers wasnt top notch which they was on xp32.

i went back to xp32 due to all the problems their was no solution too

I had bad luck getting 64 bit drivers for all of my hardware back when I had the beasty... I hear support is a bit better now though, you should be good to go.
