Microsoft will only distribute 64-bit OS after 2008

does this mean the 3rd party people who do the drivers will actually get their arse in gear and make large scale stable drivers?

Ye as said I doubt it but hopefully it may spur some better development

It`s long overdue to be fair, and I would in a sense expect them to have something akin to a legacy64 set of dlls in the mix to an extent.

But 32bit OS has been around for a freakin long time when u think about it.

It`s all a bit hit and miss tho, we`ll still be 8.3, ntfs, driver issues - even in 2009.

Windows 2010 gonna be anygood ? Will Vista turn out to be another Millenium ? all u can know for sure is an arse load of cash will be made either way.

This is a good move by MS. No need to stay on an old architecture, once they start shipping x64 only, companies will be forced to create 64 bit drivers if they haven't done so already.
