Was expecting a smaller compact version, with some added built in stuff.

I think adding extra stuff (internal) to a games console half way through its life is a dangerous play. I'd be pretty peeved if after spending all the money on my console, they released a better current gen one. The current gen consoles will be used over 10 years with the help of addons like natal and PS3's eyetoy/wand.
I just wish microsoft would allow us to put our own HDD in. Alot cheaper. Having said that, i've no where near used up the 120gb but the extra space is always nice.

hehe yeah.
Having watched some1 repair one last week (which worked btw), the inside of it is so sparce.
I would have thought install a decent cooling system (which is partially the repair the guy did above) and the thing could be atleast thinner. U could probably sit on it and concave it and it'd still work.
Bout time all these console people went along the general pnp road instead of milking cash for the sake of it.

its been done iirc, just add a 500gb laptop drive and then flash with the 120gb's stuff and tweak it a little, can't guarente it will stay working online for long but it works. im realy temped to get the 250 gb hdd when its out as my 120gb is running low with (about 10gb left) mainly game saves and add-ons
tho back on topic if the elite was actualy a cooler quieter version of the core/premium it would be an ok deal but tbh im sticking with my core with a 120gb hdd for now, as my cores running the same chips as the new elites so im happy.
also thinking about modding my other 360 with 2 aero flower coolers to keep it nice and quiet...
