Microsoft reportedly preps to buy Steam owner Valve for $16 billion?

That's clearly just a rumour, 16 billion is probably about the revenue valve makes in a year, there's no way it can be bought with this value to begin with, Valve's easily worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Honestly, there isn't a lot of companies in the world who could even afford to try and buy them.

Plus it's certain gabe doesn't want Valve in the stock market, so as long as he is alive and well even a 600 billion offer will probably just go by. companies need to wait for him to die and then try to buy Valve from his successor and we can only hope that he has the same core beliefs as Gaben.

I really hope this isn't true, If it is then expect Steam to go down the toilet.

EDIT

To add some clarity this is from now opened court documents when Microsoft were buying Activision Blizzard, Phil Spencer was "interested" in buying Valve and Nintendo but both were just ideas, Fully possible but just theoretical at this point.

I sincerely hope it doesn't happen though, With how Microsoft have handled the Xbox franchise, Steam would go down in flames.

They are a private company too. No stock. Gabe has all the say assuming he is majority owner. He doesn't care about money either. He already has so much buying him out changes nothing except he doesn't get to do what he loves.

Even the thought of this made bile rise in my throat. I don't see it happening, but 10 years ago I never thought Microsoft would own blizzard.
