Microsoft has admitted that the service’s support staff is at fault; victims of “‘pretexting” calls by identity thieves.

I had a friend who I belive this happened to, I will only be satisfied with Microsofts response when they have repaired the damage.

A close friend of mine had this happen to him also and to quote him, "Microsoft just kicked me in the face." Glad to see they are finally doing something about it. I think Live is a fantastic service and a bigger effort should be made to safe guard peoples' accounts.

I guess this proves how powerfull social engineering can be.

Wasn't there a well known hacker a while ago (few years) who had hundreds of credit card numbers etc.

They found out a lot of it was down to social engineering and I think he said he only did it to prove how powerfull it could be. He's prob working for some secret organisation in america now lol :)

I was suprised the other week when my mates bet me that i couldnt get a random bloke in the pub to invest £20 in me. I just came up with some crap about how i could turn it into £100. Now im either a genius at this, or he's pretty dumb. The latter i think. Just goes to show how easy people will fall over.

I did give him his money back by the way, but i won the bet! £20 in my sky rocket! Muahahahah
