Microsoft has launched their DirectStorage API, transforming PC game storage

I'm looking at this and thinking DirectML + DirectStorage = FTW for AI/ML on a Windows based PC.

I honestly don't think we'll see DirectML + DirectStorage used in games for a few years yet, I'd love both, Or at least DirectStorage, To be implemented via updates to existing games though.

I'm wondering how it would affect current games though. If you don't have any problems with textures or even geometry popping in, then you also won't with DirectStorage. The question is if this would change if you actually had such problems right now. Would we really see noticably improved performance?
