i have been a very happy user of the ISP Metronet for two years paying £13.75 for 1mps.i have just been advised that they have been bought by Plusnet.i have no knowledge of plusnet and would like any comments re this ISP are they any good, if not who do you think I should migrate to.

Plusnet are very big and I've heard some nightmare stories tbh.

Mind you I'm on F2S who have also been taken over by Plkusnet and the service has remained just as good :)

I'm in the same boat as you i.e. looking for a new ISP - whenI manage to get my MAC I'm going to try IDNet

Oh well, thats metronet down the drain. PlusNet are terrible.

I agree on that one.

I tried to leave them and go to IDnet as i thought i signed upto a 1 month contract with them but when i speak to them they say i am on a 12 month contract because i got a free usb modem. I didnt ask for this modem and didnt need it, So now that they gave me a USB modem i have to stay with them for 12 months and if i want to leave i have to pay the rest of the contract off £180  .

So it looks like i am going to have to stick with them until August 2006 and then either if the offer is still going with IDnet move to them or whoever has a competitive price when the time comes.

If anyone is thinking of moving to PlusNet, DONT!.

Well according to ppl on adsl guide Plusnet is not that great. They have a lot of traffic shaping (slowing down internet traffic thats not html mostly), reports of bad customer service etc.. Although i doubt it will be that bad unless you are a heavy user or expect very high speed.

As to the guy saying F2S getting taken over by plusnet, someone already said it was actually pipex who took them over, and Pipex are in a completely different ball-park, they are much more established, and a higher quality service.

Just stick with plusnet for a bit, and if they are starting up noticable problems for you then move (unless you are still in contract, in which cas you only have a few weeks from their policyu changes to move!!)

I am using Plusnet and find them excellent. I have the £22 package. E-mail is also excellent. However, IDNet is one to check out at only £14.99 unlimited!

some of my freinds had plusnet and migrated to idnet were waiting for there transfer to see if idnets any good lol

I was with Plus before moving to IDnet, they where fine, and good service too.

Tho not a patch on ID, still worth the few pennys more even tho the offer is no longer open.
