Hello Everyone

WARNING...Big scary wall of text

I have been on a long hiatus from the computer industry and am finally putting on my waders and jumping back in with both feet...hope the bottom is solid.

I have been following OC3D.net on you tube for only a week...sorry Tom, I didn't know that there was this kind of professional content and wealth of information = + rep...two tom thumbs up.

I have been bitten by the building/overclocking/benchmarking bug...hope it's not terminal, but if it is ,what a way to go. Any way..on with the post.

I use my computer to Play PC and online games, internet, home business.

I have the Crosshair 4 extreme Mobo, AMD phenom II x6 1090T CPU, windows 7 64 bit Os.

My problem is selecting the right Memory.

1. My Mobo has 4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1600

/1333/1066 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory Dual Channel

memory architecture

a. I want to use 16 Gig's of 16000 or higher speed 2000

Mhz memory, but cant find any with low timmings

(7's and higher) even with mushkin performance memory.

2. After reading some posts on memory in our forums

I have learned that I should only go with 2

(half) of the memory slots filled with 8 Gig's of

memory (is this true) but I can't find any with low

timings.

a. Are the timings treated differently (as important)

with faster memory speeds.

b. I would prefer heat sinks on my memory but I will be

going with Koolance RAM-35 (Single DDR/DDR2/DDR3/SD)

RAM-35 (Single DDR/DDR2/DDR3/SD) [no nozzles memory

water blocks as soon as I can get all the necessary

parts rounded up. I am considering going with

corsair gt mems because of the cooling fan until I

go H2O.

If any of you geniuses can help, I'd greatly appreciate

it...Thanks in advance

I'd go with 'Mushkin Redline' recently reviewed by 'our Tom' as it seems anything prior to that is now a distinct 2nd to this RAM.

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/memory/mushkin_pc12800_6gb_ridgeback_review/7

Will the corsair memory fan cooler My link or the koolance memory water blockMy link work with mushkin memory? Tom said in his review of the redline that the mushkin PCB is shorter than that of Corsair.

Hmmm...only two models of mushkin red ridge to choose from My link and only in 2 Gig 1600 Mhz sticks...no 2000 Mhz modules. I only have four mem slots on my Mobo. For Oc'ing I could only use 4 Gig's (2 slots), not enough mem to properly play PC and online games.

Am I wrong in this?

I would be very surprised if you managed to get your Ram working flawlesly at 2000 with T1090. I have same CPU on Crosshair IV Formula, I had tested some 2000 rip jaw stick and it just didnt cut it. I decided to replace them with Corsair Dominators 7-8-7-20 at 1600 (which I managed to get for free from work:)) and couldn't be happier. Imo stick with 1600 and focus on lowest timings possible. As guys said previously, Mushkin at this moment is probably your best choice. On the matter of RAM required to play on line games. I play myself Lineage2 which is quite demanding Memory wise game. I can have quite easily run 4-5 game clients open with4 GBs without having any issues. 4gb is pretty much all you need.

Just my 2 cents.
