Maxon Forces Removal of Standalone Cinebench R20 Download Through Legal Threat

So they mention support for Windows 7 64-bit on their website but only supply the benchmark through Windows Store which is only for Windows 8 and up? Curious.


Edit: Actually, the Store page for Cinebench enforces Windows 10!

From what I can tell, Guru of 3D and the other places took the files from the Windows Store version and uploaded it without the consent of Maxon.

Maxon is well within their rights to remove this download, though a standalone version of the app would be nice to have available.

I'll be curious to see how long the Techpowerup version stays live. Even they say their version is unofficial.

This version is a standalone version that works without the Microsoft Store, created by TechPowerUp.

Yeah they are in their right to do so, still doesn't mean it's a good move, not everyone is fond of the microsoft store and would rather just see a more friendly approach towards the situation, threatening legal action leaves a sour taste in the eyes of the people that really like this kind of software.

I messaged them regarding the Win 7 minimum spec 2 days ago

so apparently the standalone download version is on its way
 
F*** Maxon, not all windows versions come with the store, anyway I hosted it on my NAS in case techpowerup link gets taken down : password is oc3d if you download
