How-do all? So I haven't been particularly active in the forums lately... apologies, as I have not really had much kit to work with and haven't felt as though I could adequately provide for the experience on here. I return with a possible issue I am having:
My old mATX rig once again has life breathed into it for my brother by getting it an i5-3570K processor. Decent processor and it undervolts reasonably well, however I noticed something a little odd whilst adjusting the voltages. While in the desktop environment and stress testing under Prime95, I notice that CPU-Z is registering Vcore that is about .02 higher than I have manually set things in the BIOS. I have set Turbo off and set LLC to max, and everything else appears to be working properly. I was thinking this may have had something to do with SpeedStep, but that only modulates clock speeds based on sleep states. Is this just a querk of this/these particular boards or is there something else I should be looking for? I swept over the BIOS settings pretty thoroughly and can't really think of anything else that may account for the slight INCREASE in volts (see: VERY slight) at load. Any insight would be nice. Also yes, I have read over the gigabyte Z77 tuning guide for these processors and have otherwise followed all of the directions there just in case there was something that I missed during my AMD tuning sessions and during my hard learned mistake of screwing up my old 2600K.
