Manhunt 2 banned in the UK - ?and Ireland?

Well, manhunt 2 has become the second game to be completely banned in the UK - first being carmageddon.

I personally think this is a bit of a joke, as almost all other types of BBFC certified media have gotten away with this level of violence.

My guess is it has something to do with the case where that kid stabbed his friend and blamed manhunt for "corrupting" him. Although i seem to remember that it was the victim that owned the game, and the perpetrator had actually been robbing him to buy drugs.

Oh well, on to the slippery slope we go.

How could they do this to us! I was looking forward to this! Loved manhunt had such a spooky atmosphere.. :D

Can they not see that it is a world of polygons?

I mean yes there will be that one guy that ruins it for the rest of us by going out and killing and then blaming a game.

Thats human nature I supose. "Blame something else quick."
 
It's a bit OTT, but very unusual for the UK to ban a game so there must be something in it that's a bit worse than usual.

Still, I think we should be able to play the games we want

IMO that IS enough for it to be banned.

Yeah. Thats what I heard on the radio this morning. Its totally irresponsible and twisted. I hope the parents sue just for the sake of making the company suffer.

If this is true the game should be banned worldwide. For those too young to remember or those not living in the country (UK), two boys, aged 9 iirc led away 2 year old Jamie to a railway line...

There they brutally tortured and murdered him.

I just read about that murder. That's so incredibly sad! If it's true then Rockstar should get the hell out of the gaming industry because they are absolute fags.
 
I remember carmageddon, and carmegeddon 2 AAAAAND carmageddon 3 (got hold of all three easily enough) and tbh, they werent bad at all - just some over the top blood etc.

IMO CSS is worse than that as it aims to be realistic (and includes terrorism) - Games should only be banned imo if it includes anything personal such as assasination of a real person or if it encourages disgusting behaviour towards unarmed civilians (GTA is pretty bad)
 
I don`t remember the Carmaggedon games being banned, boy did I miss that. I vaguely remember them trying to ban the original gta games.

Shouldn`t be banning anything. If there`s a legal way some body would like to take it up that`s another matter. This should include fines and sanctions enough to put publishing companies out of business. Then the publishers can think for themselves.

There`s been excessively sick games out there not from publishers. Anyone remember Sweet Sexteen from the 80s ?

The biggest fear the `pc` brigade will have is that `we` shouldn`t be exposed to such material and `we` shouldn`t allow our kids to play them. Well guess what, kids can`t buy them if they`re deemed of an adult nature. And whilst u`r at it keep a closer eye on what they do, if u care that much. That includes downloading stuff. Wonder why u`r kid wants a 500g harddrive for christmas.

Heck most of them will buy an 18 certed game for their kids for christmas/birthday. "It`s only a game". Meh.
 
I am so happy I live in America, we just don't stand for this kind of stuff. It is not the government's place to say what can and can't be in a game.
 
U haven`t heard of the adverts coming out giving u instruction on how to not forget u have u`r kids in the back of the car yet.
