I would buy stuff like this but the whole monthly/yearly thing always puts me off. I wouldn't mind paying £40, but not every year. That's a bit much.

I am already subscribed. For just £40 a year, to have even more protection on your PC, but also your families PCs, totally worth it in my opinion.

Small annual charge for something that protects your PC on a daily basis, the entire year.

The problem is you can get it free from plenty of places. My favourite is Bullguard because I found it the least intrusive when it came to gaming and I used it for two years when I could get the licenses for £10 but £40+ is nuts.

Well each to their own :) Same with cars, some people are happy with a cheap Fiat Punto, but some just have to have an Audi.

Hmm, Malwarebytes usually get back to you pretty quickly with regards to these issues. Well I guess its not perfect.

Most companies are moving to the software-as-a-service business model these days, once MS Office did it, everyone else is just falling in-line. You don't pay for the software anymore you literally subscribe to it's use for a time.

It's a shame, but it seems to be the way the market is going

I got Kaspersky non-digital copy for around £22 from a small PC shop, heck PC World/Currys/Argos sells Norton/Symantec (the newest version actually got good reviews) for around the same. Any A/V for £40 is too much.

Even if you don't go to questionable sites it's good to have protection as even legit stuff can come bundled with adware or other crap.
