mach II on a zalman 400watt psu???

hmmmz good question, ive got a 420W Hyper PSU in this PC, will i have to upgrade too? ive got a Tagan 480W PSU in my server but id prefer not to have to mess arround switching over unless i def need too.

I always thought phase changejust powered everything off the mains. Didn't realise it took power from PSU.

Guys, In my honest opinion I would use the most powerful psu you can find to power your Mach II.

This is the official blurb from nVENTIV:

Question: Which power supplies can be used with Mach II unit?

Answer: The Mach II Cooling System does not impose any extraordinary or abnormal load conditions for your PSU. Your only reason for exchanging the PSU would be your desire for a more extreme Overclocking. The compressor is driven directly from your Mains supply (115/230V).

At the end of the day you are wanting to achieve the best overclock possible so why limit that with a crappy psu. I have had confirmation back from the states that my PC Power & Cooling 510 Turbo Deluxe's are nearing ready for me. These are the best power supplies money can buy and although they are expensive at just under £200 each, they will not limit you in any shape or form. I certainly will be upgrading.

thanks 4 the info phil, looks like im gonna ave 2 upgrade :( its a shame cos my zalman psu owns and is really silent! any otha low noise good psu's that will power a mach II and not limit my o/c? aslo 1 that aint £190!! :p

hey...this is the nVentiv mach 2 not the Vapo PE etc series where they are powered by your PSU and suck all the juice of your +12V line :D

As phil already said the only reason you should need a good psu is if youre gonna be doing some serious overclocking into your rigs...

anyways a good psu is always a must.

You can still get silent psu's mate at 520-550w.

ye well guess gotta add that 2 my shoppin list now, along wid a mach II, ddr 4400, and a possible new cpu. ive got a 2.8c p4 atm which can do 3.4 on air but i feel is limited by my Corsair XMS3700PT Platinum i also made the mistake of buyin 4x256 dimms :o and i dnt think they can run a 5:4 divider as i got a blue screen after a hours session of far cry. ive been lookin at geil 4400 2x512 mem, any1 kno if they can run a divider?

Your Corsair 3700 can run dividers ok, the blue screen or crashes generally is probably related to something else, either lack of vcore or tight memory timings. The 4400 will be fine, but take into account the timings on those modules will be a lot slacker than the 3700.

my cpu vcore is at 1.65 i dnt really want 2 put any more through it as im only on air. and my mem timings are very slack at 3-4-4-8 hmmm mayb jus a bad clocker i guess. im also usin a p4c800-deluxe so my v core is all over the place :p any1 recommend a cpu? phil u still got ur 3.0c malay p4? u fired it up in a mach yet?

phil posted a source to buy the SL6WK for £160+carriage, i just found out thats why i have too, just need to get the vcore to be stable now for overclocking :P
