Mach I and Abit IC7's

Anyone had any problem mounting a Mach I head on an IC7-G mobo? I'm sure i'd heard somewhere that there was some sort of small mod involved (I think they called it a 'wire mod'), but looking at it can't see any obvious problems other than having to turn the head 90 degrees to the left...

theres no problems installing the head to the motherboard, but there is the reset issue with the motherboard, basically when the Mach starts up it will put the motherboard on reset hold so it will not bootup until the Mach temps drop to -33C. But with your board it will not hold the reset so the pc will bootup straight away so you need a separate psu to start up the mach and when it reaches -33c you then start your pc the normal way.

Ok guys, got a bit of a problem im not sure how to deal with (not even sure I can). Got the system running (finally) but the CPU doesn't fit in the kit properly and about one third of the top of my P4 isnt making contact because it's hidden underneath the metal thinger in the kit....this is largely down to having to turn said metal thinger round 180 degrees because the head doesn't like being turned to the angle it would otherwise be at.

Is this ok? Got reasonably good temps but dont doubt for a second that they'd be better with proper contact.

Thanks for your help chiyau; i'm unfortunatley using Boardy's old Q-Tek PSU until I can get a Shuttle PSU to fit into the case for the Prommy power on. What's the best mobo for fitting a Mach1's to as I'm thinking mayb a chaging to a mobo that can hold in reset is a better option than having a second PSU sitting next to my case.

Also the Abit temp sensors are stopped at 0 degrees- not sure they're rated to read below 0 degrees C but figured i'd check. Not that they get that low too often!

Cheers

Thats fine mate, the evap head doesnt completely cover the IHS on the P4 - it probably covers 2/3. At the end of the day as long as the core is chilled then its no problem.
