MACH 2 Probs......

hey not sure whats going wrong so ill ask for help got my mach 2 all up and running fine but i cant seem to keep a stable overcl**** at all.... my old g cooler was better... amd 3700 cpu. will this be mainly to the fact that one of 512 sticks or xpert memory aint working anymore since i reinstalled mb? any help on the matter would b aprecaited

1gb corsair pro led 3200

1gb corsair xpert ( cureently only one 512 stick is working)

hyper 580watt type r

2x 7800gtx 256 (sli)

what sorta details are relevent?

well with my g-cooler installed i had 2.75 wit no problem what so ever. thought i would b able to just easily wack it up with such passive cooling i think its just the memory holding me back now. but i cant seem to even overclcok slightly without random restarts. even when just surfing the net. its a 2.2ghz atm and all is well but boringly slow...

What stepping CPU you got? Definately possible that you got a stepping that is known to have a cold bug (meaning, it just can't take temperatures lower than a certain level and won't work very well even at stock speeds)

Is the compressor cycling on?

Does the evap head get cold?

What tempearture is the comp booting at?

not sure about stepping etc

posted cpu-z page i think stepping will be on there hope this helps and hope that is the problem so it can be easily sorted buy getting dual core cpu.the mach2 is up and runnin fine no probs there the evapourater -57 currently.

Most AMD's have a coldbug, its not an easily sorted problem. Your better off going intel with cold temperatures.

Wish i knew that already...

im just gona last out the bad situation im in then and ill get these new boards and conroe hopefully in the near future. still upset being first time i used this mach and cant even do what i want at all lol. was expecting amazing results. cant even get 10% extra out of it without reboots. actualy wich reminds me might be a bit off topic but would an unstable cpu cause a restart? being as only happens when i tri and overclock the cpu.

Make sure you have a good mounting.

Then you could make more heat by pumping up the voltage and clock speeds.

that would be a resonable idea but my ram isnt suitable to overclcok anymore being as im 1gb down one of my corsair xpert sticks packed up on me and im sorting out the process with corsair at the minute. mabie when thats sorted ill give it ago. thanks for your help m8 :yumyum:

its a bit of a longshot but sometimes a "badly" mounted "heatsink" can cause problems that can be solved with a remount.

i think mount is ok....

its hard to tell if mount is ok or not ok coz its certainly not overheating so i asume its ok and theres no visable condensation what so ever. that would be last resort takes ages to reinstall all pc conmponents etc. nly if i got a new motherboard could i be bothred lol bit lazy on the reinstalling with no new hardware front .

Well, if you do decide to remount, check and post up the stepping or do some research on it.
