M.2 System drive

Hey folks,

I am looking for a system drive in the M.2 format, ca 120gb to go onto this Motherboard:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97MPLUS/

I read elswhere that not all M.2 drives will fit on there. So I would appreciate some guidance/suggestions.

Cheers
Chris

There is M.2 pcie and M.2 SATA - Im not sure what that board supports but its more than likely the more expensive (and faster) PCIE version.

We reviewed a Plextor recently so Id look that review up and look for one your size

Found the information on the M.2 port.

*** 1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2260/2280 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode) and then - M.2 Socket 3 shares bandwidth with SATA6G_5 & SATA6G_6 ports. ***

Just have to enable it in the bios then.

Dont bother buying M.2 sata - youre better off with a normal 2.5" SSD

+1

The only place i can see the use of a M.2 sata / PCIE is when you need to build a very small itx build and need the space to something else.

** But TTL, this board can use then both, just so you now it ;) **

Thanks for the quick reply guys :-)
I'll take a look at those Plextor ones then :-)

**Edit** or probably not looking at the prices ^^

Are the M.2 that much worse?
I was just hoping for a nice place for the system drive. I really like the Idea having it out of the way in my SSD cage.

The only time M.2 is worth it is when they are not being used by the Sata 3 controller.. at that point you are better off with a regular SSD.
