I built my PC around 4 years ago and it's still going well, I don't need to build a new PC yet but I am looking to upgrade the SSD to get more storage.
However, I noticed a lot has changed since I last bought an SSD, in that the M.2 standard and M.2 with PCIe is becoming more common.
I am looking to get something like a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe SSD but my motherboard does not support it (I have a Gigabyte Z77-D3H) - see here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z77-D3H-rev-10#ov
So as I understand, I will need some sort of adapter. My question is, what adapter will I need and will it affect the SSD's performance if I use an adapter? Is it worth me buying a NVMe drive with this motherboard or shall I just stick to a normal 2.5 inch SSD? I want it to be future proof.
