Hi everyone!
It's been a while since I needed your help, but as always, something new came up.
2 weeks ago I had to upgrade to Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
After installing all new drivers for GPU and Mainboard as well as updating the BIOS I figured it was time to see if gaming performance does indeed go up under Windows 8.1.
And it does. Games like Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider get ~8% more FPS than under Windows 7 Pro. However, my Number 1 game, the game that I have loved ever since I started playing it nearly 10 years ago, gets terrible FPS.
I am, of course, talking about Counter-Strike: Source (from here on CS:S).
I get anywhere from 30 to 80 fps constantly fluctuating. That is of course miles from where it should be considering I have a GTX 780.
Before I get into what I have done so far, here are my full specs:
4770K (which also causes me trouble, see http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=66108)
GTX780 GHz edition
32GB Corsair Vengeance LP
ASUS Sabertooth Z87
Corsair RM850
OS is on a SanDisk SSD
What I have tried so far:
- update VGA driver
- disable Intel HD4600
- Verify integrity cache
- Re-install the game
- Set the game to Compatibility mode (tried all versions of Windows) and "start as admin"
- Set Timer Resolution to 0.500 ms
- Install a new PSU (Originally had a HX1000 in here)
- Update BIOS
- Stress Test the System
Also interesting: My GPU only goes up to 700MHz in-game. I never monitored GPU usage in Win 7 when playing CS:S so I am not sure if this is normal. Max is 1175MHz.
I am running out of ideas now
Any help would be much appreciated!
