Looking for new soundcard..

Hi there

I've been looking at parts to finish my build..

And have come across this sound card, which I like the novelty of being able to use a pci-e slot for something..

But I don't really know much about sound cards, I know x-fi is the stuff to go for. However I'm not sure why this is so much cheaper if it is similar to other x-fi products. It's also blue, which goes with the motherboard :)

Any help would be great, Cheers!

Nice one, cheers :) and they're both in my kind of price range. I'll be looking to use it mostly with headphones, maybe some of those 5.1 medusa's, or just some good quality phones for music/gaming, as I'm at uni and really can't be bothered lugging my 5.1 speakers up.

What do you plan on using the card for primarily? If you are going hardcore gamer style and not big in to movies/music then the X-Fi is going to be your best choice.

If you like to listen to music or watch movies, and still get excellent in game sound there's no better option than an X-Mystique or X-Plosion. Amazing cards bar none!

Right thanks a lot for the input, looks like x-plosion I'll be going for as I use the pc for everything, I've got a pair of 2 quid speakers right now for daytime use, radio etc. So it looks like the x-plosion and some of these:

I won't be using the mic as sadly my games connection is disabled at uni :(

Cheers guys :)

Tbh for that money you can get MUCH nicer sounding headphones. Medusas only really come into their own for FPS gaming.

Good brand, the ones my Dad got me when I was a lot younger were pretty much indestructible which is a plus, there looks to be a big range of them.. Does anyone own any of these?

Cheers guys :)

Get the Sennheissers. I have the HD555's and they're awesome

TBH they beat the medusa's/anything else in the world...in gaming with a good sound card
