Logitech and Herman Miller reveal their £1,195 G Embody Gaming Chair

Someone is going away from horrid racing chairs for gamers. It is ridiculously expensive but at least I hope they will push others to offer ergonomic gaming chairs as we should have had since the beginning.

No headrest, big naynay. Move on, Logitech. NeedForSeat/Maxnomic and DXRacer will still be the kings out there. Especially considering their MIG Series that costs a LOT less than this.

Its a little amusing you have placed a DXracer alongside a herman miller for comparison actually.

I wouldnt even put a DXracer up against a Noble or secretlab chair.

It's also reminded me how many people use their headrest incorrectly on a chair. Its suppost to support the base of your head, not the back of it. Meaning, Gaming chairs are incorrectly designed in respect of head support.

while I do support gaming chairs as just as good if not better lumbar support than most office chairs, when it comes to head support they are almost all wrong, or pointless. Even the provided cushions.

It's not ridiculously expensive. Let me address that please.

Firstly look at it. Not as in "Oh I am a poser and it's beautiful". Look at the way it is built. Look how many parts it has. At least three times what you would normally find on a chair. It's also three times heavier than any normal chair, just to confirm how solid it is.

It's long been hailed the best office chair in the world. That will come at a price. Most companies have some art student in. Herman Miller spend years designing their chairs. That is how they have made their name - quality. That is how they exist when their chairs are so expensive. If they were not as good as the price suggests people would have figured it out years ago and not bothered. Most people don't buy these for the name. Most of the people who sit in them when they deck out an entire office don't even know what they are.

It's expensive, yes. However, y'all make me laugh when you buy a single gen GPU for more than this, then lose money hand over fist selling it on a couple of years later before spending the same on a new model. Fact - most of us here have a GPU that costs more than this chair. Even though that GPU won't help us in a health sense. At all.

This chair if looked after? will last you a lifetime. The only thing that goes on these or any other chair are the arm pads, and you can get those easily enough.

If you care about your health enough and can afford it? this will be the best PC upgrade you ever buy.

I must admit I was surprised when WC posted this yesterday. I figured they would aim at entry level, Sayl or something and then tart it up and double the price.

Fact is? this doesn't cost much more than any other Embody by the time you add the upgrades. Personally speaking though I would go for a regular Embody over this as it's more customisable (sic) but yeah if you did buy this you haven't made any mistakes.

No headrest, big naynay. Move on, Logitech. NeedForSeat/Maxnomic and DXRacer will still be the kings out there. Especially considering their MIG Series that costs a LOT less than this.

That's like comparing McDonalds to the Fat Duck. I'd have thought as a German you would understand quality and design.

You clearly don't understand.

There are limits. Take Apples over engineered Monitor stand. You think its worth $999? Its quality and design is outstanding, but not worth the asking price.

I was expecting a more mainstream chair like you said. However I don't see people choosing this over the original embody. I can most certainly guarantee the additional features will not be noticed after the first few seatings.

That's different dude. That does nothing but hold your monitor. It's not necessary.

A good chair? is necessary. In fact, I would argue two things that are necessary on a PC. First is a good chair to stop you screwing up your body and the second most important IMO is the monitor. Quite simply because it is what displays your PC to you, and what you interface with the most. Sure, there are benefits to it too (like not effing up your eyesight) but it's still not as important as the chair.

I don't expect every one to run out and buy a Miller. Not in the slightest. However, casting them aside as expensive or not worth it is not true. You can not put a price on health, and IMO? you can't put a price on quality. I quote Henry Royce of Rolls Royce - "The quality remains when the price is long forgotten".

BTW as for the head rest argument? a good chair doesn't need one, unless you decide to recline. If you are sitting correctly?

Your head will be nowhere near the chair. Your spine should be correctly supported, and your head should be atop that spine. You shouldn't need to support your head at all.

Note I am slightly twisted there to get the photo, but the chair has twisted with me. That's what the Embody does best. However, look how far above and away my head is from the back of the chair. It's not a car, I am sat upright. My feet are flat on the floor as they should be, and my thighs are correctly supported so I don't get a numb ass.

The only time I could ever see me needing a head rest is if I wanted to lay back and watch a movie or something, at which point I should really go relax on the sofa.

My upper back is not "on" the chair either. It doesn't need to be. My lower back is held and supported, the rest follows naturally.

TIL that a £1,195 ergonomic Herman Miller chair with 12 year warranty is expensive.

This chair is for adults who know what a chair should do. But feel free to go back to your nonsensical $250 racing chairs designed for kids and/or mentally impaired.

Spoken like a true pleb who has never heard of Herman Miller. Those chairs you listed are trash. Especially DXRacer, Maxnomic not so bad.

I wouldn't buy from Logitech though, just a regular Herman Miller chair will do.

Secret Labs Titan here.
Expensive, but decent adjustable lumbar support, memory foam head support pillow, adjustable arm rests, tilts, etc.
I could actually sleep in this thing (and have come close while watching movies), because it can tilt all the way backwards if you adjust it to.
I have the black version with the golden 'T' logo, so it's not a bright colored sporty chair, it actually blends in perfectly with my black desk and black furniture. If you are looking for affordable options then i would recommend ficmax gaming chair and you can see complete details of it here https://www.reviewsed.com/ficmax-gaming-chair-review/

I agree with Alien. Saying this chair is priced too high is a bit redundant. I'm not willing to pay that much for a chair because I don't have the money for it. But I do think the money they ask is deserved, and I would pay it if I had it. They are generally excellently engineered items that will last your entire lifetime. And it will help you stay healthy if you sit down for extended periods of time. I was able to buy a refurbished RH-Logic chair for £380 and it's 90% of what I wanted it to be. I would only be disappointed by a 'gaming' chair, or even an IKEA Markus. I've bought two 'office' chairs previously that either fell apart or were poorly designed.

That was an unnecessary insult.
