Liquid Cooling

I just love how cool a Liquid Cooled pc looks, but have no idea how much it will cost to get one. I have a HAF-X case, and i'm sure that will be enough to house any Liquid Cooling set up. The only problem is that I don't know what exactly is it that i need. I was thinking of spending around 350 on everything I need, but am willing to go up to 500. Don't worry about the CPU, GPU, or Voltage blocks, I will buy those on My own. I just need to know what I need to buy, and any recommendations that you guys have. I would appreciate if you guys could give me a put together Liquid Cooling setup, with all connectors, tubing (I would prefer 1/2), pump, resivour, raidiator ( i was thinking this one http://www.hwlabs.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14&Itemid=11 ), fans for the radiator, coolant, and anything else I need to make a Liquid Cooled system work.

Also, I would like to use these types of fittings http://66.96.90.84/viewitem.php?iid=7112393 , not the exact ones but in the same style.

I am running -

CPU- i7-950

GPU- Duel 6870, switching to 580 SLI, or if the 69xx is better crossfire them

RAM- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 1600

HDD- Samsung F3 1TB

DVD- ASUS DRW

PSU- Corsiar TX 950W

Mobo- ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366

Thanks,

Edvin

No need to bump dude.

We/ I will be doing a WC guide over the next few weeks but you have answered all you own questions other than specific parts.

Could you give me a list? I have any where from 350 to 500 spend on it. How much does a good WC system usually cost?

This is what I was thinking of so far.

RAD:

ThermoChill PA120.3 - 360

OR

Black ICE GT XTREME GTX 360

Can they both fit 1/2 tubing?

Pump:

????

Res:

Tecnofront 5.25" Bay Trap Reservoir

OR

Bitspower Water Tank Z-Multi 80 Inline Reservoir

Tubing:

1/2ID 3/4OD

RAD Fans:

?????

Please Note that all the things mentioned above are not set in stone, that was just what I thought would be the best. After seeing some pictures of WC systems on this site I am thinking about going with 800D (is the 700D the same without the window?) or the HAF X. Also I am not worried about noise, so would like the best fans there are regardless of how noisy it would be. I have no idea what pump I should get, but would like one that is a little bit more then I need. For fittings, are compression fittings better then the rest (are you worth the extra money)?

bay res suck man

thermochill make awsome rads i think they have a new one out.

look at pump and res all in ones mate

go for smaller tubing (the next size down)

fans i the noctua NP12 or some slipstreams

Is there a reason why I should have smaller tubing? I thought cooling increased with bigger tubing, and I do not want pum and res in one because I do not trust that the pump will be able to handle it.

What size would you recommend? Would it be better to use a T setup vs a reseviour one? By the way, I have no idea how T one works. And would this be a better size Tygon R-3603 7/16" ID with 11/16" OD, or Primoflex 3/8" ID - 5/8" OD ?

3/8 is 10mm i think? so that one

tygon make the best tubing out IMO

the others wil do fine they just need to be worked out better to get kinks out etc

res mate no need for a T-line keep the loop simple

I though everything over 3/8 in (~10mm) is way overkill? I really don't see the point why one would use bigger tubing than that.

If you have questions, could you make your own thread?

Why? It fits with what is being discussed. He's adding to your post and if someone can come in here and give more information on the subject, the better, both for you (and your topic) and anyone else who may have the same questions while reading this topic.

Actually, when doing my own research on the subject, people told me that 3/8" is better because you have less water in the system. Same reason you try to go with the shortest amount of tubing. The pump doesn't have to work as hard to pump less fluid around the loop.

Edit: I don't have anything to back that up with of course, just going by advice of others.

Does anyone have anything to say about my the parts? I was hoping of ordering all the parts by the end of the month.

I've heard good things about the Swiftech MCP655 pump. It's what I'm going to get when I do my build around Christmas.

Also, I'd go with the ThermoChill. The fin spacing is pretty tight on the black ICE which will need higher rpm fans and will create more noise.

As I said in my previous post, I do not care about the noise. I will check out your pump recommendation tho. To be perfectly frank, when I saw you avatar I thought it was a Polar Bear

.

-Res EK Multioption 250 - lookis awsome and top quality

-Pump MCP 350 18W or D5 Vario - second one IMO better.

-Fittings - BitsPower 7/16" ID - 5/8" OD

-Tubing - Tygon - best quality but Expensive

If you want cool 2x580 plus your CPU ,you need more than one 360 Rad - add another 240 one.

Fans Enermax Appolish will do the good job with less noise.

I would like the best fans there are regardless of noise. Also I like the D5 but 200 just on a pump? Is there anything cheaper?

Buy all your parts at specialtech dude its the best watercooling retailer in the UK.

If you want to cool 2x580 and CPU you better dig deep dude as the blocks alone are not going to be cheap.

You need the 18w Laing DDC Ultra pump aswell
wink.gif

fittings wise get 1/2 barbs with 7/16 hose
