They need a less offensive business model. Windoze 11 is you paying for spyware. I've used some falvour of Mint for yonks. I'm going to set my sister up with Windows 10 LTSC IoT 2024 sometime this week, so I put 10 on another box. 'kin hell, it is awful. Hats off to Microsoft: I found it mostly as usable as Battlemage graphics though. The difference being Intel is getting a lot better; while Microsoft is getting a lot worse. I went and found a curated .iso with the curf stripped out; I don't have the time or energy to fettle it to secure and usable, plus I'd want to still have the will to live at the finish! 
Even before Valve stepped in; I could get a lot of games running under Wine and similar. I added Steam/Proton last year to Mint and so far have had a very pleasant experience. Have a back-up Win box by all means; but I doubt you'll need it. Let Windows die, guys; companies like Micro$oft we need like a hole in the head.
