LG releases their 24:10 38WK95C Ultrawide FreeSync Monitor

reinventing the wheel? why LG?

Not sure why LG is trying to reinvent the Wheel here, 24:10 is almost the exact same thing as 21:9... If you do a simple rule of thirds you'll find the difference is in the neighborhood of a mere 0.28...

Well here you go Dice. Now I expect you to buy this considering you said you wanted a ultrawide by :10 ratio instead of :9;)

What is the difference really?...

As someone that much prefers even 16:10 to 16:9 I can tell you I noticed the difference at that ratio. I'd be interested to see if it's noticeable when using something that wide though.

I can't live without those extra pixels, I'm just too used to it. :(

I've got the LG 38UC99-W. It is a 24:9 panel. I can see that at a glance as I have a 16:10 30" Dell next to it and it is about an inch shorter; but just to be sure I measured it. I got it at a good price, so I'm not mithered, but anyone thinking of buying this new one when it comes out better go down to a physical store and measure the thing.
