Leak!!!!

So while I was messing around with my comp today I bumped one of the hoses and of course it popped off. I immediately just pulled the plug out of the back of the power supply. I don't think anything got fried but I did get water on both video cards and the mobo. My question is how long does everyone think I should wait before I turn it back on? I was thinking 24-48 hours.

Until its dry would be the best answer?

Anyhow, if you have an airing cupboard in your house (a dry heat) then bung it in there for 24 hours, should dry it out nicely. :)

Well I am sort of stuck out in the middle of the Pacific ocean right now :( I think I will just leave it off for 24 hours to let anything dry that I didn't get cleaned up. I have used plenty of towels and blew it down with 120psi air but still want to be on the safe side.

try to get the case fans working of an external powersource, then atleast the moist has a better chance of leaving the case and also an airflow helps drying out any water on those hard to dry places.

a tablefan works even better even if it has no heat.

and atleast 24 hour, if thr air where the computer is is cold and more on the moist ide then 48 hours is better.

Yeah i've had a couple of spilages, and some kitchen tissue along with a good long blast from a hairdryer, coupled with 24hrs of 'off-time' should sort it.

Well not so good news I guess. It is time to lay DFI Venus #909 and an Opteron 170 to rest. After closer inspection I found a burnt spot near the bottom of my mobo. I then took everything out of the case and swapped all of the parts over to my expert board, everything worked except for the 170. $650 blown so fast it hurts :( I haven't tried to boot up on the venus yet but will in a couple of days. As of right now I am putting #917 into my good case with my 3700+. I hate having to move to a single core, but at least my 165 is coming from Monarch that was RMAd due to bent pens on arrival. :( Oh and I am taking the water out of it until all the stuff from Danger Den gets here.

I really wish I could get online and kill some people in CSS right now to take out the anger!

:(

Moral of the story - don't play with your PC while its on ;)

Try and RMA the 175 :D

I am on a work computer that is so strict on permissions I am suprised that I can surf the net. That and ping yes, I am sharing a single satelite connection with 5200 other computers. The connection just plain sucks arse!

:( Bad news Jason... Darn watercooling loops can be a freakin' menace. Luckily I never had a disaster with my loop, and I thank the computer gods every day for it.

RIP twisted5's computer parts!

What processor are you going to replace that 170 with? I would think about going Conroe at this point mate. Maybe its the computer gods way of saying "It is time young weedhoppa, that you experience the powah of Core Duo!!!" :)

Hope everything works out for ya mate.

P.S. Don't worry about getting me the remainder of the monitor payment until you full have recovered from your computer loss....

Thanks Frag. Well I am up and running on my expert board with my 3700+ priming at 3.1ghz 1.425x112%. I have a 165 on the way from monarch that was RMA'd awhile back. Danger Den also figured out how to ship to an FPO address after 3 weeks so the rest of my good water cooling stuff is on its way. I can finally get rid of this dreaded Koolance stuff. If I can make a suggestion to anyone and everyone, DON'T BUY KOOLANCE!

I was planning on going to conroe once I got back to the states in August anyways so that will happen anyway.

Koolance blocks and stuff don't really have hose clamps. They use a threaded ring that screws down over the tube and provides pressure on it. I have had the tube pull out before and never again. The stuff is already sold to a guy that I work with who just "wants to have water cooling"
