LCD For Temps [Please suggest]

Hi guys. I ws looking at the alpha cool LCD display review lastnight. It looked cool n all but its too much for me.

I would like to ask you guys some advice. I was going to buy a fan controller because it shows the CPU and GPU temperatures but the fans in my antec case are all 4 pin molex connections so I cant do it that way without changing 4 of the fans I have in there. I didnt realize until last night that it was possible to buy an LCD display such as the alphacool that would give me a temperature readout.

Now you may ask why do I need the temperatures to be displayed , Well I have my graphics card overclocked and early next month I am buying a new motherboard so I can get my CPU overclocked properly with a decent CPU cooler [Vapochill Mini] and i will need to keep an eye on their temperatures so that I dont fry my CPU and GPU. The lcd display would be handy when I am testing while I am overclocking and testing for stability.

So guys after all that crap I just spouted can anyone suggest an LCD display. I dont need anything fancy. I just want something that will show me the temperatures accurately and maybe show the time also.

Have you looked at the single bay Alphacool LCD display? It's a bit cheaper but you basically sacrifice the double bay screens main selling point (the massive display area). Without which, it is pretty basic.

Not yet. If I have to I will change the 3 fans that I can change so that I can use a fan controller. I cant change the fan at the top of my case because its sealed in there and its a 200mm fan so it would be hard to find a replacement. But I will definately look at the single bay Alphacool LCD display?

Thanks for your suggestions guys

I dont know if I would be making the right decision here but I was thinking of going for the Scythe Kama Meter Fan Controller and 3 of the AKASA Amber Series Ultra quiet Fan 120mm Twin ball bearing, 18 db(A)

I'm not sure on those fans really mate, I'd go for some Sharkoons or YateLoons if youre looking for quiet. If you got a bit more money to throw at it then maybe some Noctuas or SilenX fans

Will the Crystalfontz display work properky without fans connected. I know that most fan controllers need some fans to be connected or they will sound an alarm. The only fan that I have that can be controlled is the 120mm fan on the side panel of my case.

I realy dont want to go as far as changing the fans just for an lcd to display temperatures , but I will if I have to.

The one I suggested above does not need the fan connectors - connecting, it runs without

Yep works fine with no fans and also works fine with no temp sensors installed

Temp sensors are included in the CFA 635 + SCAB

Yeah Ive just got the price for the parts off their site. Ill have to convert the price from us dollars to euro. It wont be until july I will be buying but the CFA 635 + SCAB is my choice. I much rather the green display over the blue and its exactly what I am looking for.

Once again thanks for your help Kempez.
