Laptop for £500

Hiya,

Need a bit of advice. A colleague of mines sister is looking to buy a new laptop that will be able to cope with graphic design work i.e. Photoshop and Illustrator CS3. The problem is that she has only got £500 to spend on it.. Perhaps £600 at a push... Don't suppose you can get a mac for that price?

Just happened to be looking at this one today. It`s in the Today special section too for a discount of about the postage price.

Biscuit under £600.

Of course, whichever they get they`ll have to check the OS is ok with the software they got.

Well ideally as she'll be out and about with it working from home and on the road but if it really has to be a PC then it can be.

Nice one Tog... Had found another one of comparable specs for about 600 but at £550 with the 1 year collect and return included i think i shall pass the info for that lappy on.

Depending on what the person who needs it is doing, it may be alrite to go with something like a shuttle PC? Not exactly as compact as a laptop but a lot cheaper. If its 100% on the mvoe then its not ideal but if this person is going around like every few weeks it mite be ok.

Similar to the one I posted, biggest differences are that the one I posted is £50 more, has 17" screen, steals more ram for graphics, weighs more, and has a shorter battery life (probably due to screen size) ;p

Looking back at it yeah it is quite similar apart from what you mentioned.. Plus the upgrade to 3 year collect and return warrenty is only an extra £50 from laptopdirect rather than £250 from scan... Its for someone who will want the protection of 3 year warrenty.
