Lapped 805D *56K Warning*

Well here are the results of the labour of half an hour this afternoon. Definitely not a mirror finish but given that I had to do with lapping paper available at an auto part store , pretty good I would say. The important thing is that the IHS now is completely flat and smooth.

Lookin nice and flat man. Are you gonna go the whole way and lap it to a mirror, or just let the TIC do its work?

how much of an improvement in temperatures will lapping get? and is the point of lapping to get a smooth finish or to expose the copper or both?

i havent ran the proc on stock cooling without lapping it ever. I havent finished the build so cant comment on the temps. The lap job was to flatten the IHS and expose copper for better thermal transfer.

the standard intel base that u get whenever u buy an intel proc. It was in the retail pack.
