hi there need help

hi there i have a abit-ic7-max 3 motherboard.

i have western digital raptors but cant get my motherboard to

see them on the intel sata ports 1+2

i have to use the silicom port 3+4

please help as im in a compitition. thx 4 your time in this matter.

Set "bootable add in device" to "on-chip sata raid".If you want to boot from the intel, move "bootable add in device" to top of "hard disk boot priority",using the + key.In "integrated peripherals"--->"on chip ide devices",set"on chip sata mode" to "raid","sata raid rom " to "enabled" and "on chip serial ata" to enhanced.Set boot order to floppy,cd,harddrive.Reboot ,hit control+i straight away,to setup the raid, exit, boot to cd,start xp install, hit & hold f6 at the prompt(be quick),install intel drivers from floppy, following the prompts, continue install.Good luck, feel free to ask again.:)

Thanx TB

Do you really have to use the “bootable add in device" option on the ic7 boards? I only had one for a week or so but when I built a system with the above method when I got to windows although the raid was working the disks had been installed using atapi drivers. After this I could not install the application accelerator despite all of the raid options being enabled.

I presumed this was because I was using my disk as a "bootable add in device"

I thought the bios altered slightly when u rebooted with the above settings and had created the array allowing you to select the array directly as a bootable device. After rebuilding like this all Intel stuff installed fine.

Yes,before you set up the raid, your h/d's on ports 1+2 appear as individual drives in "hard disc boot priority" (along with bootable add-in device and any other h/d's).After you create the raid you will only see bootable add-in device and any other h/d's in "hard disc boot priority".Your raid is your bootable add-in device (because you set "bootable add-in device" to "on-chip sata raid" and hence, you move it to the top of "hard disc boot priority" to boot from it.I dont know why you couldn't install IAAR,but I've run with and without it,and couldn't tell the difference. If i'm confusing anyone, maybe this is clearer...

I aint seen boot so often in a post since I mistakenly typed S & M instead of M & S :D

I'm sure it'll all make sense soon, though

hi again got the intel chipset drivers working how can i get 1 raptor drive on the silcom port working port 3 thx aagin.

Just hook it up,boot into windows on your raid, then install the silicon image drivers (you need the si raid drivers even if you aren't using raid) from the abit website.Windows will detect new hardware, then you will probably have to go into disc management to activate and format it.Ensure the serial ata controller is enabled in onboard peripherals.
