So i was out in the market for some more RAM, for video editing and all. I went to my local Frys Electronics and i found a great deal on Corsair XMS3 1333 9-9-9-24 for $119! only $10 more than the 8GB 1600mhz ram. SO i sacrificed a little RAM speed for more gigs. I didn't notice any difference between 1333 and 1600, not even in benchmarks.

So yea, time to update my profile again

Well it's the 1333 1.5v model. The 1600 model is 1.65v. My guess is if i boost up to 1600 with 1.65v i should be fine? I have not tried yet, but i will soon

lol you see what I have said before on other posts 1333 at 1.5 I believe will be the same as 1600 at 1.65 I beleive its just marketing hype for it. hell the memory I'm looking at for my SB build is 1866 at 1.5 9-10-9-28 I bet if I pump it to 1.65 I can either hit 2133 or tighten the timings alot tighter like maybe 9-9-9-24

Hey Sand. is thisthe ram you got? (be it 8GB rather than 12gb, if so we have the same RAM. Not meaning to hijack the thread, but how hard/easy is it to oveclock this RAM as i wouldnt min squeezing a bit more out of mine. if there is a link to overclocking it here already, no probs linking me to that

Thanx in advance

I would have thought you would have been able to jump to 1600, ah well. Maybe one of the sticks isn't up to the challenge or something.

I'm gunning for those clocks (the first ones), at 1.35V though

10-9-10-24-1866MHz atm, I wonder which lucky number shall be the first to drop.

sorry i must have inserted the link incorectly. here is is the old fashioned way

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/12gb-(6x2gb)-corsair-xms3-ddr3-pc3-10666-(1333)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-150v

it does look slighty different to your RAM, mine is about 2yrs old.

thanx for the heads up anyways, TBH the amount I have is enough, but we wouldnt be pc enthuisates if we didnt want to always want to try an push our gear that lil bit further

I wanted to get Dominator GT RAM but the Noctua wont let me! I was also looking at Mushkin Enhanced, but they dont sell any at Frys Electronics. RAM is one of those things i prefer to buy from a store for easy return reasons.

Tbf with a D14 over them, you aren't going to be seeing much of your RAM. Installing the D14 to your motherboard is the equivalent of shutting your dog in a kennel for the rest of its life

Ofc it will be a cool kennel though.
