i've been looking at grabbing a PSU recently, with a price range of give or take £70 and anything from 500 to 800 watts. the noise is a secondary concern to reliability tbh. the jeantech storm has caught my eye, and i was wondering if any of you had any experience with them and could share a bit of knowledge it would be much appreciated ;)

link (the cheapest one i've found:D)

I'm not sure what they are like these days, but i wouldn't touch one with a 10ft bargepole based on what they were like a few years ago.

a friend of mine has so far replaced two blown jeantech 700w's :o

Sounds like not much has changed then :(

Put it this way...if you can buy it at PC World, it's probably not worth buying.

i've just acquired a Dark Power Pro from bungral:worship: should have my rig up and running for the first time in weeks in a couple of days. no more crappy P4 for me!!!:D

For the record, I have a Jeantech 600 Arctic modular in my system right now. Granted, it's no quieter than my 8800 fan but I've had no power related issues with it in the 3 months I've had it so far.

Plus the Jeantech 450w non modular psu in my 2500+ Barton pc is fine after 4years.

Of course, now I've typed this, I guess I'll have to go and hold my Bokken. *

* for those stiffling a laugh, it's made of wood (usually Oak) and you hold it with a firm but measured grip like most good weapons. #

# still not laughing? One nun says to another 'Where's the soap' and the other nun says 'yes it does, doesn't it.' :D

OK back to the subject.

i had three jeantech PSU in the past. All blown up and I didn't even do anything for them to get blown up. Scared the living days outta me. :o :mad: :p

I definitely got my money back. Me knows the manager thats why or else they would've told me to shove them three PSU up my *royal marine*

Last year I bought the 700 watt version from PC World (shame on me :nono:) and within a few months the fan would stop working and then the PSU would overheat.....:micro:

Be afraid, Be very afraid! :nopitty;
